I think we improved at QB but I would like another scholarship QB in our room.
I think at RB we have a good committee but no stud.
WR I feel like is weak. Some new guys but unproven. For the TE room we have basically everyone back so they are familiar but no one has put up big numbers.
O-line has new guys with experience from big schools but it’s a new group together. Not sure depth behind them if anyone knows.
CBs seem like everyone important is mainly back plus some new safeties. Not sure about depth.
LB we seem like we are inexperienced and a new group. No player with solid season at this level.
D-line seems weaker and no one that can really get to the QB at will like Eyabi. He was an emotional player and got some flags and missed a game or two but he put tons of pressure on.
No idea on special teams. MSU punter and same kickers I think. Coverage I’m not sure.
Overall, QB is better and it should help a lot but with schedule and uncertainties elsewhere it could be tough. I’m excited for the season and I’m she’s roster will still change some. Year 2 guys hopefully will make a jump. I am hoping our OC can improve as well. We can’t just run. It can only get you so far. I wish Dyches were to commit but I do not think it’s happening. He would have been a matchup problem as he is like a WR at TE.
DL, WR, db. Also i believe their QB’s will be better than ours. The two they had last year are gone and they pulled in some good talent from the portal.
Edit: I’m going to add QB to this list since Steve Johnson has now entered the portray.
I think we pulled in better talent. At this point, especially with qb, its hard to tell but their oline doesnt look any better and they didnt upgrade a lot on dline.
How do you figure better QB talent? Max Brown doesn’t have any D1 playing experience and we lost two qb’s to the portal. The freshman QB looked good during spring game but it’s going to be a wait and see how he does during a real game. ECU brought in two QB’s with D1 experience that fits the scheme of their new OC
The wr from USC has talent but was also a lockeroom issue. He was going to get PT but was third on their depth chart. The Oline Sapp couldn’t handle spring camp. Out of shape and thought that just because he came from FSU he was guaranteed a starting spot. They didn’t need to really add to D line since everyone came back from last year. They did add some talent in DL from Ohio State and Edge from Louisville. According to their guy who runs their 247sports.com the edge from Louisville looked really good. Their oline will be their biggest issue unless they grab some talent/depth from the portal.
I saw that. SMU wants him mainly as a depth piece. Plus he got a bigger money bag going there. ECU oline will be an issue for them during running plays but with the new offensive scheme they have the oline will benefit better. I’m concerned about our oline as well. We need to be more than a running team. I’m not sure if our line is better at run blocking or pass blocking.
I’m not so sure. Do we really want to rely on a freshman qb if our qb1 gets hurt? At least ECU qb’s both have enough playing experience to make you feel more comfortable. Purdie has talent but i would feel more comfortable getting another qb from the portral.
