That’s kinda my point for those who missed it.
Not sure if others have seen this yet. I though a nice summary and forecast for this years team and schedule. Covers all the new additions on O and D and some of the losses. I know some on this board know all this stuff already, about the new players, but for those that don’t have the time to keep up with all the changes from the portal, a good summary. I will say, it’s really obvious one of the guys is from UNCH. The main guy took the time to do his homework on CLT
Same with Enter Sandman. If no one was using it and we tried it at one of our games some of us older fans would know it but the students wouldn’t know what the heck they were hearing. You just have to pick something and stick with it until it becomes a tradition. Trying to find something everyone agrees on and loves right away is impossible.
I put this in the podcast thread, but it’s training camp notes, so copying it here for more visibility:
It may be a forlorn hope but things seem different this year. I think we are capable of surprising a lot of people but it all rests in the QB position. I hope Brown is better than the Green guy we got from Florida a few
Years ago.
Kind of feel similarly. I like the quiet approach to the season. On top of QB, sounds promising at WR. LB seems to be a question mark still. I think we are ok there but not sure about depth. Also not sure about punter. It is funny because every preview I have read , questions our secondary. Every media member that has seen practices says DB and safety are strengths. I will take the observations over guesses. Looking forward to the 31st. That game is shaping up to be a good one. Go Niners!
No disrespect to punters, but when one of our biggest questions we have is about the punter, I think we are going to take a big leap over past years. IMHO
Or…like last year when your punter punts 12 times per game…we need him to be good. He may touch the ball more than our RBs.
Just checked…out punter punted 60 times last year. 60.
So did anyone else listen to Hwy 49 ?
Curious what your takes were…
Hunter says we need Stone Handy to dominate if we want to replicate last season’s defensive success. I think it’s key. We can have an improved secondary, but we cannot allow QBs all day to pick us apart.
Also, I am nervous about our failure to fully replace Knight and NHG. Bemah has to stay healthy and others have to step up.
O line has to be better. Been told that only King from last year would start on this year’s o line even if we had everyone back.
I think Kaler will be a tackling machine. Definitely LB by committee I am assuming.
O-line should be better!
Random, does anyone know what time the Indiana game might be at?
Listening to the broadcast, I felt there were a lot of positives but at the same a lot of question at the same time. Sort of like the projection for last year last year. Will definitely be better at OB and offensive line. Should be strong at defensive secondary. Lots of question on defensive line. Overall, should be a better-balanced team with much better backup.
If our line play solidifies on both sides of the ball, I think we will make it work. If we can do so, especially on the DL, we can overcome the LB losses. QB cannot be anything but an upgrade, and the RB room is deep and the secondary is deeper than it was.
If we aren’t winning the line of scrimmage then I don’t think any of the rest of this matters.
