Iām sure it is money for most of them. Itās just so frustrating that college sports has turned into this and that money is all some of these players are thinking about.
A lot of this may be families who have an inflated view of their kids potential and think the way to the NBA is to transfer for more playing time.
They actually may be right if itās a career in pro ball oversees their kids after.
But these numbers are ridiculous.
There are so many players that are going to transfer into another situation where they get the same or less time.
And all that movement does is make getting the education that they really need harder.
Sorry NA we keep Fān up the thread.
Yeah. But how many value that degree and the life-time benefits over what they imagine will surely be a hot-shot college career and then the N-B-A!!! Maybe a very few.
USF fans are going to be sad about this
Would be a massive get. Not a masher like DJ but skilled player who uses his size effectively. Seems to have a smooth post game and some ability from 3. He might be better than DJ overall.
Thatās my expert analysis from watching 4 minutes of last years highlights.
Itās amazing how much turnover there is. I mean even powerhouse schools like Duke. Duke only has 2 players off this years roster returning next year. 3 graduating and 7 in transfer portal.
But yes we need at least one big, maybe 2 and we need a shooter. I like the athleticism we have brought in.
I saw this as well and was shaking my head. Unless you are certain of going to the NBA and making huge money, transferring out of Duke is crazy. IMO, No matter what amount of NIL money you are offered short term, it is going to pale in comparison to what a Degree from Duke is worth long-term and access to that alumni network. I have to guess it wasnāt their choice to transfer, needed spots for the incoming freshman?
Just finished watching tonightās Field of 68 āAfter Darkā podcast and hosts Rob Dauster and Jeff Goodman discussed Duke. Basically said Jon Scheyer is putting together a team in which incoming consensus #1 freshman Cooper Flagg - who is also early favorite as top pick in 2025 NBA Draft - will be the focus of next yearās Duke squad. So making sure the pieces fit. Dauster also reminded everyone that not every player who enters the portal does so because they want to. And, of course, a coach making that decision is nothing new.
My guess is what you mentioned, or someone is a 5th year, already has their Duke degree, and wants to go somewhere else for $$ or playing time. Other than that, leaving Duke is asinine, imo.
Yeah I think heād be a complete coup for us - highly productive big man. We get him to go with what else Fearne has brought in, and we are back in business.
Would be a fantastic add. Would allow us to play it when needed and they can put the kid in from FAU when we need a smaller center.
The tape I watched he didnāt have a single dunk. Donāt think it matters. He can play.
Edit. I see heās from Germany. We have had good luck with centers from Germany.
Wasnāt Mr. *Kuehl from Germany?
Bent Leuchtenās actual numbers:
Not sure why Jamie Shaw extrapolated his 2023-24 stats in that post.
Lol. I totally missed that. Too funny.
clt says malik el tamir is from germany
