2024 College Basketball Portal šŸ’»

And he doesnā€™t even make any of the lists that Iā€™ve seen of best Aussies playing college hoops. Not even considered the best in NC! Still, would be nice if we could get some sort of ā€œLand Down Underā€ pipeline going.

Seriously? Not sure if this is a serious comment. If not, my apologies.

Yeah this has been bothering me for the last few weeks. There are a lot of talented Aussieā€™s and Kiwiā€™s in the portal and havenā€™t seen us connected to any of them. This guy was at the top of that list but surely there is someone better than Rissetto that he can bring in.

It is crazy to me that P5ā€™s used to never give a crap about the best players at low and mid majors and now they get into bidding wars for them and do whatever they can to get them to enter the portal.

Hes not just going to bring aomeone in because theyā€™re an aussie.

I didnā€™t say just someone. His connections there are an advantage he has over other coaches and we need every advantage we can get in recruiting right now. There really are a lot of really good ones in the portal so Iā€™m not talking about bringing in just anyone.

Agree that Coach shouldnā€™t offer someone just because heā€™s Aussie nor do I expect us to land a Furphy or Proctor - and we did offer the latter - it does seem like weā€™re ignoring that talent pool for the most part.

None of us have any idea of what Coach is or isnā€™t doing with recruiting kids from Australia. If you have first hand knowledge, letā€™s hear it.
I am going to assume that he and his staff are working that pipeline as hard as they are the other pipelines for talent.

Sorry didnā€™t mean to step on anyoneā€™s toes. Just stating what I have observed and so far out of the players weā€™ve been reported to be in contact with I havenā€™t really seen any with that connection.

No worries. My toes are fine. I get your point about what we have seen so far.

I hate this ā€œ new realityā€.

I have no doubt weā€™ve been in contact with Aussie hoopsters, just havenā€™t seen any announcements that we have since offering Proctor.

Former Niner target:

Does it bug anyone else that suddenly this guy is described as a superhero player just because he transferred to Duke?

Iā€™m not saying he didnā€™t get any run at Tulane, but I had to look him up. There is a ridiculous bias in the way these players are covered based on the name on the front of the jersey.

He has been touched by the gods of basketball now that heā€™s transferring to Duke.

He will be the next Tristen Newton.

Yes, exactly. Hes a good player but hes not that good.

Unique player out of Georgia, can do most everything. Very underrated his four years at Tulane and in the AAC.

Last year was down year for them, with high expectations. But every team wants guys with his style of play, defends all positions PG to C, and can take it into the lane.

Actually been a decent run of former C-USA (and now AAC) players making the jump to P6 programs and proving they belong. Donā€™t have to look any further than our own program to know that.

That is not surprising considering how well those leagues have competed against the P6. Taking the best players and they still struggle against mid-majors in tournaments.

Yep, UConn really struggled the past two seasons with a former ECU player starting at PG.
