What tier are we? I would guess probably tier 3. Anyway this pretty much shows the odds of us getting a top 200 or even 500 player in the portal are extremely low moving forward. It’s all about having the biggest, richest, most generous fan base now. Nothing else matters.
clt patiently awaits the Igor commercial or endorsement
I love how getting room and board, food, education, books, stipend, access to facilities and weight room and coaching are all worth zero in these equations. The stuff we are donating towards and our students are forced to cover.
Looks like Igor might be able to take full advantage of NIL if the visa rules that currently restrict international student athletes are changed.
Wonder how long before failed pro athletes are allowed to go back and participate in college if they have eligibility left
As has been mentioned previously, that can already happen - as long as it’s in a different sport than previously played in college and/or as a pro.
Of course, Smith wasn’t a failed hoopster!
I was thinking more of the same sport they left.
Yep. I know there’s been some talk about allowing players who have declared but don’t get drafted to return to college if they still have eligibility but so far that’s all it’s been - just talk.
It’s going to happen at some point. The same arguments made to get to this point would be the ones to remove eligibility rules and durations and if you are paying players they are effectively already professionals so playing in college should be no different than changing pro teams.
Dropped 25 on the Niners in Halton as a freshman for UTEP, plus games of 26 vs Marquette and 32 vs Rice that same season.
IMO, all that should be paid out of NIL. I don’'t see why anyone should get NIL and a full ride scholarship. Save the scholarships for actual students.
Absolutely agree. IMO as soon as you accept any cash in NIL the scholarship and all the free stuff should go away and you pay for it all out of your NIL money.
I agree with NWA, and I have evolved to the point that, if you are going to get paid to play sports, then you should be able to pay for your education (tuition, books, etc.). The young people today just understand that it’s their education that is going to carry them into the future, not the money they make playing for 3-4 schools after getting out of high school.
Are schools required to make any and all NIL moneies paid out, public ?
