FYI - 1,300+ student NC Wesleyan is a D3 program located in Rocky Mount east of Raleigh. The Battling Bishops are members of the USA South Conference, of which UNC Charlotte predecessor Charlotte College was also a founder (initially named the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) in 1963.
NCW was 17-10 last year and played a couple of games vs in-state D1 schools - losses to ECU (97-70) and UNCG (99-54). The Bishops ended the season as the USA South tourney runner-up to champion Pffeiffer.
They haven’t posted their 2025-26 roster but tallest players from last year were a couple of 6-7 guys listed as “centers” on the team’s website. And finally, John Thompson - a Durham native and UNCG alum/former player - has coached NCW for the past 30+ years.
Is tomorrow’s exhibition game part of the season ticket package?
Yes. Tickets are in your account
Eastern NC BBQ vs Western NC BBQ. Western forever!
I assume there will be no tv or radio coverage on this game. Anyone have any information on this?
Correct - NO radio or TV.
Last meeting with NCW was January 10, 1970 - a 97-77 UNCC win in the Mine Shaft.
The Battling Bishops lead the all-time regular season series 6-4.
How we feeling fellas, is this exhibition worth the trip?
Yes, because we have all new players. It requires studying to be a fan now days.
Would go tonight but I have a prior commitment. Very interested in reading everyone’s opinions of the new roster. Please report with your impressions if you do go.
If the lights are on, my NINERS are playing, I’m there. ![]()
