This will be the first time the Flames and Niners have faced each other on either’s home court. Previous three meetings - all Niner Ws - were held on neutral courts as part of the NCAAT (1998 in Hartford) and regular season tournaments in the Caribbean (1999 in PR and 2007 in USVI).
Bad timing. I won’t be there. I’ll be at the Panthers do-or-die game. ![]()

The timing sucks. I’ll be at the Panthers game as well. Sure wish the Niner game was later in the evening as I would have definitely made it out to Halton. It’s been a while.
It looks like a lot of us will be at the Panther game (me too). Add me to the wishing it was a later tip off to do both.
UIC is 4-7, on a 5-game losing streak…several close games, but only 1-4 on the road.
While I’m disappointed with how thiings have gone so far this season, we should win this game and hopefully get close to .500 for the OOC…with Temple and WSU coming to Halton, there’s a chance to get things right.
2.5 point favorites at home against uic?
UIC’s most recent games - against a couple of Missouri Valley heavyweights - were pretty competitive. An 87-84 loss at #49 Belmont (12-1) and a 60-54 setback at home to #86 Northern Iowa (9-2).
That said, one-time UAB coach Rob Ehsan has a rotation of only 8 players, so I expect us to have the fresher legs as the game wears on. Of course, need everyone mentally engaged too. Don’t want to be like App, which lost today at home to a 2-win Georgia State or Davidson, which fell at home this past Thursday to a mediocre Temple team.
2.5 pts doesnt seem right, but lets see they may be better than their record.
Be curious to see what the predictions are for rest of our games and which ones we are favored, would assume no road games.
Edit: just checked ESPN has us favored in 3 home games (1 is Tulane, which is a bit surprising) and 50/50 @ ECU…. Looks like could be a challenging few months. This would get us a 10 Win season.
52% chance to win ??? ![]()
As of today, both Haslam and Torvik have us winning 9 more games - 7 at home (including UIC) and 2 away - for a 14-17 regular season record.
FWIW, I’m one off on my OOC predictions so far, which match actual results except for Davidson. Figured we’d be 6–6 instead of 5-7. Do have UIC as a W.
Anyway, like I mentioned yesterday, UIC gave Belmont and UNI all they could handle in the Flames two most recent games, thus the close point spread.
If we only win 9 or 10 games we have to move on from Fearne don’t we? At that point is there any way we move forward without making a change?
It’s more wasted money, but I don’t know how you could keep Fearne with a sub .500 finish. We spent too much on this team for that. Just how low are our standards? What would be the reason to keep him?
If we finish that bad and we keep Fearne I can’t imagine anyone wanting to donate to NIL. So it’s either use athletic department funds for NIL or just don’t spend nearly as much as we did this year. Either way next season would most likely be a throw away season to save $500k in buyout money.
Just don’t understand why we go through periods of looking so completely terrible
