I appear to have been wrong. The double attrition does not seem to have helped. There are still a lot of people in the portal, and the number of players accepting FBS level positions has dropped to minimal numbers, though there is a flurry of activity as FCS schools pick over what is left. It seems clear that a lot of players who jumped into the portal, hoping the grass would be greener, are going to be chewed up and spit out this year, same as every other year.

Three more 49ers have new homes. Rockhead is off to Norfolk State, while Connor Adair and Evan Austin will be at Campbell.
There are still a number of 49ers from last year for whom I show no new home: Mason Bowers, Cheick Kaba, Jayden McGowan, CJ Stokes, Mo Clipper, Taâir Brooks, Devin Davis, Aiden Martinez, Johnathon Okate, Duke Guenther, Jack Davids, Aydan Cannon, and Justin Hayes. If they canât find new homes, should any of them be allowed to return? My thought is that itâs a little late for that.

Wouldnât it be somewhat dependent upon whether the player left on his own or was âencouragedâ to leave? If latter, then probably not coming back.

Do we think these players are still on campus and taking classes or are they not in college due to not finding a home for spring semester?
I have no clue where any of them are. I guess someone could check the Student Directory to see if they are enrolled. (While they are at it, I wonder if Lewis Price-Law or Charlie Birtwistle are enrolled? Both committed, but never signed, and they may have just enrolled.)
I wouldnât be surprised if some of the players I mentioned above are enrolled somewhere else, and it just doesnât show up in the news. I also wouldnât be surprised if some are working out privately, hoping to be a late addition somewhere. Even though no more players can enter the portal, teams can continue to add from the portal. Letâs say a team loses someone to injury in Spring camp, they might add a late addition.
Me, IMO, I donât agree with that statement at all. If that player was a contributing member of the team last year and you have not found a replacement player for his position, welcome back. The system, not the player is to blame for this. It makes these players do this. You tell me if you were in that situation, you wonât poke your head out and listen if any other schools are willing to pay you more to come there? then you are lying. With the stupid money being thrown around now, why wonât a kid test the waters??? The spineless NCAA is forcing these kids to do this.
