2025 49er Football Week 1 - Game #1 vs App State - Duke Mayo Classic, BofA Stadium 8/29 7PM ESPNU

I think your estimating skills are bad. But I don’t care.

Delusional.

App absolutely had more fans than we did, and any Charlotte fan that tries to argue otherwise is likewise delusional, but it certainly wasn’t a 25,000-10,000 split.

Seemed like the crowd was pretty equally divided among the fan bases.

Dave knows that. He’s just being a dumb ass Appy.

Time to hit CTRL ALT DELETE on this one and hope for at least 6 wins (tall ask). Was I the only one who thought it was odd the Ball Coach wore and American Conference hat for his first game that vaguely looked like an App State hat? Not to be a nit picker ………………..

And didn’t we see this same outcome the last few years? Decent first half, bonehead play at the tail end of 1st half for easy points and the opposition blow our doors off in the 2nd half? So much for halftime adjustments.

Gonna be a long season, sadly.

CLT I think it’s about time to show some respect for AppState and its fans. You act like the rich kid who makes fun of the poor kid to look cool. I get you and the loyal 9er fans are frustrated with your program. App may not be the gold standard but you wish you had what an underfunded program like ours had. You will beat us one day but not today.

There aren’t six wins to be found on our schedule playing like that. Hell even if we played as well as app last night, 6 might be difficult with our schedule.

Believe whatever you wanna believe man.

Good luck the rest of season in Boone!

Coach most likely wore the AC cap since the commish was in attendance.

The two point conversion was very creative and nicely executed !

Yeah I really liked that play call.

If you are referring to the practice of staying 5-10 yards away from the receivers, then YES, our secondary did a helluva good job last night

The Brad Lambert coverage package.

That’s what was so deflating about last night. I don’t think those issues can be fixed this year. Like has been stated before, App was in an almost identical situation to us, yet we are not competitive with them. I’m hoping we can steal one and beat Monmouth. I hate to be negative but that’s where my expectations are after last night.

How bad has Grayson Loftis been in practice? He got no opportunity even on the last drive last night?

clt says the appy fans were fun to people watch

  • trying to go up to the closed upper decks
  • taking pics of the skyline
  • taking pics with the panthers statues
  • struggling to understand how to use a hands free towel dispenser
  • men with kate upton like breasts wearing overalls

Like NA stated early I was screaming where is Rutledge!! Why is that not announced pre game coverage? Is he not a big part of our plans?

How bad is Loftis? SMH….

Our offense reminded me of the Panthers and Bryce Youngs first season. Nothing down field. Everything short and in front of you. We were down 25 and only had 2 plays over 10 yards in the 3Q! That tells me what you think about your QB.

I understand conservative but why did we fair catch every punt with sometimes 20 yards available in front of you.

Unfortunately, we look like we have FCS talent except for a handful of starters.

Swan can spin the FB but standing in the pocket for 7 seconds for a pitch and catch did not impress me. Whenever he did get some pressure his footwork became real excited and he usually over threw or had # 15 bail him out. Hell when we finally hit him ( legally) on the TD bailout catch he lost his shit. Imagine if we actually targeted him like App did with Harrell all night. Don’t think that bodes well for him when he plays real FBS D lines. Probably why it took so long to determine him the starter.

WTF with the targeting. 3 targeting calls and only 2 called. After the first one D coordinator has to be preaching keep your head up unless that is the way you practice. It’s a huge penalty for current game and next weeks game. That’s incompetence or intentional. App defenders better keep their heads up or neck injuries are sure to follow.

All far as 49er bricks. This is another brick weighing down a drowning Niner hard-core. Just numbing to the core. We look like a start up FCS team playing a schedule to get paid. Tired of being everyone’s Homecoming game. Starting to wonder if this ever gets straight.

I would absolutely welcome this move!!

Agree with 2005 but IMO it goes back to the Valvano rule when Mullins was forced to step down from AD role. That was a fork in the road for us. Imagine if Mullins stays on as AD for 20 years with his clout , vision, and connections in the Athletic world at the time.

Would that be the same clout that resulted in App State being the Niners inaugural opponent in Halton Arena?
