Just my opinion Run but thanks for reminding me why I donât frequent this board as much as a fan and why my decision to back away makes more sense everyday.
The very ugly truth is we are 0-4 against App in 2025, and they are like 9-0 vs the AAC since they became FBS. They get to say âitâs not a rivalry, because youâve never beaten usâ and we have another year of lame Tweetsie and Wendyâs jokes.
We got our asses kicked in every way. Life as a Niner is hard. On to next week.
Itâs tough to be a Niner fan, even after a night itâs still an upsetting loss. Both programs are pretty much in the same place coming off the same type of year. Program culture and history matters and this shows that App is superior in that regard. As a fan it pisses me off how in another national stage we get stomped.
My rational side, my expectations coming into the year were three wins and getting better as the year went on.I have a lot of trust in Albin, so after game one the sky isnât falling for me.
We have a lot of areas to improve. The offense seemed pretty simple, and I think thatâs due to lack of trust in the QB and the team still gelling/learning. Defense id say App found a couple concepts that gave us fits and just took advantage. Credit to them.
The thing I wanted to see out of this year was progress on the team, well the bar is pretty low. Need to be a lot cleaner from a penalty perspective.
The few positives is the team played hard, special teams looked good. I can definitely see the brand that Albin is trying to instilled. I think heâs the coach to get us to keep improving.
Onto Carolina.
Love reading your takes TSD and nodding in agreement almost every time. Please donât be a stranger.
I do think the Valvano rule is the critical point that set this program back for decades. We just didnât feel it immediately.

Personally, I would like to see what Loftis, way more Sean Brown, and a healthy Rutledge can do on offense.
Someone has to actually block on the O Line for that to matter though.
Also for the last couple of months, I heard a lot about the edge guys from FCS and NW state JUCO. Milk Carton last night. Totally absent from any impact.
Appâs coach is a fat dork who patted himself on the back way too much last night, but he was right about one thing, they recruited the OL and DL way better than we did, and it showed.
Then we spent the 90s pretending that the world wasnât changing. Meanwhile, other schools understood the assignment. For reference see: Central Florida, University of.
This is an interesting call out. I do wonder if thereâd be value for your administration to put together a lighter OOC schedule early in the season just to give your guys some momentum.
I looked back at Appâs 2015 OOC schedule, our first âofficialâ FBS season, and we faced Howard, ODU, Wyoming, and Clemson. 3 very winnable games and a cash generating beat down. But we entered conference play 3-1, feeling good, and finished 11-2.
I would love to see what your program and your fanbase would do with a spark like that. Could be one heck of a catalyst. And those of you that have stuck through this past decade definitely deserve to see some success.
As an overall program, we canât evaluate quarterbacks at all, the only good quarterback in our history was initially benched in favor of a transfer by Healy, we have to get this position right in order to compete, we canât continue to miss on this position in recruiting, nil distribution, practice evaluation, and in choosing a starter
Albin made a good point about the second week bounce back. Hopefully weâll see it. At least weâll have some opponent tape to watch and know a little more about our opponent. Win or lose next week, if we see improvement, we can have hope things are turning around. Fridayâs game is over, and thereâs lots of football to be played.
I brought my son to his first game last night⌠here are my thoughts/observations:
- App had slightly more fans(60-40) than Charlotte. Props to our fans for continuing to show up with the product on the field.
- App state fans/team had more energy. Fight songs, etc. some of this comes with time/tradition. It looked like we were treating this game as a scrimmage with lack of energy compared to App.
- App state fans were very tolerableâŚthis ârivalryâ has so much potential, we have to start winning though.
- Why cant our AD coordinate consistent Niner Gear? This will always bother me. So many shades of green etc. Make a couple game day t shirts and sell them at cost. Not about profit but getting consistent gear out.
- Pre snap penalties put us behind the stick on many 1st half possessions. Our 1st offensive play was a false start.
- We were fortunate to be only going into the half down 14-3, prior to the cross body INT. the long pass App had shouldâve been a TD if the WR finished the play.
- Lack of creativity on offensive- seem so vanilla/scrimmage plays being called. I lost count of how many HB dives in the 1st half.
Overall this turnaround will take time. In todayâs NIL, it is frustrating how other programs can turn around on a dime yet we canât with our resources. Hopefully weâll clean up the penalties and show progress over the next month.
I am confused on this NIL spending as well, Hunter mentions Brown/Rutledge are our Skill talent.
Not so sure, is there where our NiL$$ were spent this year? On these two guys. Brown seems to be a depth piece.
Can we get Kent State on our schedule!!!
Why does Albin wear a conference hat?
You do realize we finished exactly mid conference last year at 4-4, right?
Me tooâŚ..NN, youâre as bad as an App fan. The crowd was as close to 50:50 as you coukd get.
No sense trying to break it down. We just arenât very good.
bout time to quit wasting my money on this shit
ExactlyâŚ..been watching football for almost 50 years myself. Im amazed that anyone thinks our DBs looked good.
We did schedule EMU, that didnât work out too well for us.
