I am not a fan of the UGA game - its basically unwinnable. I get that we need the cash, but it kinda sucks, especially at the end of the season.
Playing App as often as possible is smart.
Id prefer to never play chapel hill in anything because we never ever get a fair shake, but home and homes with P4 teams should happen as often as we can get them. Great opportunities for us, builds our fanbase and sells season tickets.
At the end of the day taking a shot at those programs and having a chance to maybe win does more for us than winning a meaningless bowl game and you cant win them if you dont play them,
I might disagree. Perception is important and no one will remember fondly losing to a team like georgia, even if it’s close. Making bowls at a minimum needs to be the expectation. Ecu won 8 games and a bowl off a shit schedule and look at their hype now
Not for the fans maybe, but for the players. You learn more from your losses than you do from your wins. And when those losses come from the best teams in the country, you learn a lot.
Yeah but public perception is important for recruiting, and making a bowl off an easy schedule is better, as opposed to missing out on a good record bc you played a really tough schedule.
The players don’t learn much of value from a thrashing, other than that they have a long way to go. In my opinion, the best plan is to schedule games where you have at least a remote chance of winning. By that standard, the UNC game fits, but the Georgia game will not help the team, though it will bring in some cash.
We have zero reason to play UGA other than money and I’m not sure the money is worth it. Best case sceneries is they beat Texas the week before and are happy with a 50-0 win. Worst case they lose, need style points for the committee and hang 80 on us…
FWIW, highly unlikely UGA will beat Texas 50-0. Not saying Dawgs can’t get the W - especially with game in Athens - just don’t see a blowout either way.
Not saying we can beat georgia but usf slmost beat bama two years ago, granted a bama team with subpar offense. I hope we can keep it respectable but yeah, the game is for the money
