2025 Charlotte 49er Football šŸˆ

For sure, we did sell out 4/6 last season with fairly poor performance on the field though. ECU being the outlier. We haven’t had a shortage of new coaches the past couple of years.

The truth is, our attendance has actually been good relative to the level of play we have had.

If we put together a consistent winner, the complaints about our tiny stadium are going to start back up very quickly.

Looks like Harrell is the guy, can’t imagine he’s the bench captain.

Ive talked to so many fans that have been with us since the start, that are bailing. Either they havent renewed or they are giving it one more year. It isn’t the winning or losing its all the other crap happening in college sports. It is going to take beating app or a big upset vs heels or making a bowl to get some of these folks to stick around. Hell I have one foot out the door.

Not so sure our stadium size will be an issue if we keep bleeding long time supporters. I don’t see how many G6 and lower P4 programs expect fans to stick around for this product - regardless of wins/losses.

If he shared a few things about Alex and Larry working their asses off to make the league, how excited our campus was to have football and what a good man Phil Ratliff was then its all good.

I’m still coming because my friends still and we have a good time. If they stopped I’d probably bail too

Week night games are tough to sell out sometimes. I definitely expect our weekend home games to be full though like last year.

Fair, if we’re any good there will be a huge push to sell out that Rice game which will be on ESPN.

Its tough for sure. I renewed my season tickets for another year because of the Albin hire. If we had gone with Brewster I wasn’t planning to renew (my wife says I would have still lol but I guess we’ll never know). Most everyone I used to buy tickets with stopped several years ago. We need wins to build support.

Literally, everyone around me still has their seats and have since year 1.

Dare to dream…

I was expecting Loftis to be the guy. If it’s Harrell, that means two things. First, Harrell is very good, and second, Fitch has bought in to using a large part of Albin’s offensive philosophy. That means we will see:

  1. 50:50 mix between passes and runs
  2. Running game will include zone runs and counter traps inside, and options (including options to the short side) and reverses outside, along with some QB draws and designed QB runs
  3. Some RPOs, plus a deliberate plan for the QB to take off if he sees a lane
  4. Aggressive downfield blocking by WR on runs, or when the QB takes off
  5. A variety of other plays from Fitch that I don’t know what will look like. I expect that he will greatly influence the kinds of passing that Charlotte will employ.
  6. Wide variation in formations, could be 3 TE on one play, and then 4 WR on the next one

If the defense is, as reported, far ahead of the offense, that can mean two things. The first possibility is that the defense is going to be very good. The second possibility is that the offense is going to be very bad. I’m hoping for the former.

I’m eager to see what they look like against the hill folk.

I have to admit, I was leaning Loftis too. Hunter Bailey was as well.

Don’t really care who it is as long as we win, though I do like at least the real threat of a deep passing game.

I have been around a long time and I have had one foot and one arm hanging out-the door for a couple of years now. A friend from ECU didn’t renew her season tickets this year for the first time in 20 years. Simply due to the NIL and portal transfer craziness.

It will take longer, but it is starting to seep into the more established programs. The top 50 will be fine, but all the others are going to have to adjust and reset expectations. Will be interesting to see how the younger fan base, (college kids), reacts to all this.

I agree totally that the NIL madness will dramatically change G5 football. How much fan loyalty will there be when you blink a couple times and most of the players you knew are gone? It sounds a lot like minor league baseball to me, and those teams have fans, but not intense fan loyalty.

The people sitting around me in 111 haven’t changed much up to this point. But the faces at Tailgate have changed significantly.

My issue is even IF we win I don’t see my feelings changing. It will be nice to win, but I still have significant ethical and moral issues with the system.

I just want to win. I don’t care who the players are. I want to win big and be on the national stage.

Rob, I can tell you we are very thankful for the party you throw. It feels like getting to come hang out with family each year before football games. As much as I hate the current enviroment in college sports, hanging out with friends and spending time on campus makes me excited no matter the quality of team for football season.
