Looks like we are fielding a very young team. I think about half of these women are freshmen.
Six returnees, nine transfers, and six freshmen.
LSU run rules us in 6 innings by means of a perfect game tossed. LSU is a very good team. We are young but there is a lot of good young players on the team
Niners with 13 strike outs in 18 at bats.

I was thinking about how many freshmen we had on the field today. I think at least 4 or 5 (too lazy to actually look it up).
Not positive but I believe that there were only 2 freshmen playing today and both were the pitchers we used.
Updated, there was one other Freshman, O’Hearn an outfielder

See that FAU beat #25 Clemson 6-2 and followed up with a 5-1 win over Georgia State in which the Owls recorded 13 Ks.
Knowing that their pitcher was the high school player of the year nationally makes me feel better about how we did. Until there is scouting on her, lots of people are going to be striking out.
I wonder which investment banker is handling her account.

It’s a “trust the process” kind of season. I really do think this staff will get us back competing for conference titles, but it isn’t going to be this year. We should be able to watch some of the young players grow over the course of the season.

Agree, and even though struggling right now the young pitchers have fantastic potential. Coach was put in a very difficult position coming into this year but giving another good recruiting year, things should be much improved

Just watched the Diamond Niner podcast for softball. I find it really odd that this new coach refuses to name captains and instead treats it as a day-to-day. Is that normal? The other two women on the show seemed to support it, but also spoke to the importance of having a captain
The team will know who the leaders are when the balls start flying and the season progresses. She can’t show any favorites at the moment, with what she was handed. She is trying to keep everyone happy and merge holdovers, transfers and freshmen. I don’t see any superstars on the team, so it’s going take a different individual everygame to step up to win.
