Actually, you want to “thank” ex-Gopher Elijah Hawkins. If he doesn’t do an about face two weeks after saying he’s staying at Minnesota, then now ex-Gopher HC Ben Johnson doesn’t turn to Patterson in desperation to fill that position on the team. No way Lu’Cye returns home for his final season otherwise.

One college basketball program that has had a tough time is the Virginia Cavaliers. Of the 15 players they had on their roster this past season, nine have entered the portal.
