Per Parrish, Memphis has been spending around $4.5M on its roster. Says that amount probably isn’t going to be sufficient going forward to field a viable NCAAT team.

He absolutely is going to get a money conference :money_bag:.

There is no way to build a team in the AAC for more than a single season unless you have a benefactor. I do not believe any of the schools in this league have fanbases that can support an NCAAT roster without a wealthy individual / corporate investor.

Memphis and witchita state. Id be curious to know if our nil number increase is due to us upping our game, or universal across the AAC

Who is Wichita State’s benefactor?

Memphis has FedEx / Fred Smith.

That’s what it’s going to take for us to be relevant. We need a rich benefactor. You’re not going to be able to build a program from this beleaguered fan base that you haven’t given any reason to follow the program in the past 20 years.

Benefactor won’t hurt, but the real change needs to be contracts and a salary cap.

Wichita State is the Koch family.

No smart rich person would bank roll this crap. Why would you?

It’s play money to these guys. Not a real investment.

I get that but at some point even rich people with play money especially at non power brands are going to question why do this when they can spend that money on other dumb things they are more fun or offer tax advantages.

Worst investment with no return even if a team wins it is a bad investment and people are going to realize that at some point

Can’t forget the courts, with the current West Virginia governor - in his previous position as WV AG - directly responsible as concerns immediate and unlimited transfer. That was in response to the NCAA’s attempt to limit things to a single immediate transfer per student athlete.

Ex-Niner headed to Rock Hill:

Tulane has strong group of benefactors as well & the advantage that they own Professional sports franchises.

SMU similar but in a total different tier than former AAC schools or even ACC schools for that matter.
