2025 Spring Transfer Portal

Albin talks about finding versatility from his players and experimenting with lineups with the roster reduction from 120 to 105.

I really do think Hunter is right and we are going to see a lot of activity in this portal window.

The portal hits everyone. The difference seems to the that P4 loses backups, while G5 loses starters. :slightly_frowning_face:

Someone educate me please. How is the talent stacking up for the coming year compared to the last 2?

That’s something we’ll know later but i like what we are doing. A lot of production from lower levels, plus some p4 guys

Answering the talent question is easy. It’s probably significantly lower. Fifteen players transferred up the P4, and 9 transferred down to G5. About 5 transferred in from P4, and about another 5 came from G5, with the rest of the incoming talent coming from FCS, Division 2, and JUCO. Thus, it’s probably lower in terms of raw talent.

The more difficult questions are, how will performance compare, and how will results compare? The players coming in are motivated, and happy to be at Charlotte. Albin tried to recruit leaders as well as athletes, and that could, in time, lead to more team unity. My guess is that performance and results will be comparable or slightly better, but that’s only a guess, and we’ll have to see what happens this fall.

I’m honna push back against that a bit. They might have been less heralded our of hs, but they’ve performed better in college

Performed better in college? For some, yes, but what about the 14 that moved to P4? That was based on college performance, not high school. My point, though, is that winning is a lot more than raw talent.

Demon Clowney went back to P4 but he hasn’t done much…he’s going back to P4 based on his last name

PJ Wilkins went to Ole Miss based on his frame…not his production

Max Brown surely isn’t going to WVU based on his production at Florida or Charlotte!!!

Note that the portal takes away, but also gives. Terez Traynor has withdrawn, and is returning to Charlotte, while Al-Ma’hi Ali, Xander Lamb, and Nassir Freeman have entered the portal.

Do we know how much NIL money we have available for football?

They said the goal was 1.25-1.5. We need to keep upping that though

This.

I know there’s no guarantees but these are the players I want. Motivated.

I remember a few other players that were motivated and happy to be at Charlotte, like Duke, Reynolds, Ogunjobi, Highsmith, Klugh, Phillips, Deluca, Watts.

I don’t recall them being highly recruited or rated.

Let’s see what the coaches can do to develop hard working motivated players that want to be here.

Losing Ali was as bad as I thought. We badly need DT and WR too.

Sean Brown would be a big addition if he can return
