I think as soon as we had a minuscule of success this place would explode. Thatās what keeps me coming back. Iām just concerned it will never happen. The fact we have this many people that care after decades of AD failure is remarkable
Niner23, I agree . A blind squirrel finds a nut eventually but we act like heās blind with one leg. Letās change that attitude and I for one will be in front of the tv Saturday 7:30 ESPN2
Itās going to show the blood more, butā¦
Im optimistic basketball will bring some of them back this year. For the first time in over a decade im very optimistic and excited for hoops.
football thoughā¦thats a lost cause for this year and probably the foreseeable future.
I feel like the new AD has put a significant amount of effort and resources into our basketball program and punted on this football season before it even began.
When a donor commits $5 million to your NIL for hoops, what are you supposed to say? No thanks, gotta fix a loser football program?
Yeah thatās what Iād say (theyāll never hire me to be AD)
Yeah, I donāt get what you mean by punted? He helped raised like 3.3 mill to put towards football
I think most if not all of that money was donated before White got here. But I donāt feel like he punted on football this season. Unfortunately he didnāt get here in time to have much of an influence on this years team. The roster was already set and it was too late to encourage staff changes when he arrived. I like Albin and want him to be successful but I think the failures of this football season should rest squarely on his shoulders.
Maybe it seems that way to me because weāve made a change at the HC position in basketball and there has been lots of coverage following that.
Also, maybe he got here too late to make changes he wanted to with the football program.
It is clear that there is something rotten within our football program. Hopefully we will be hiring someone in the near future within the AD that has football experience and can take on the task of fixing this mess.
I agree something is terribly wrong with the program. I donāt know if itās coaching, motivation or talent evaluation but something has to change. Itās extremely discouraging because I thought Albin would at worst get us to mediocre and on the verge of bowl eligibility every year. I definitely didnāt see him turning out to be in the running for worst coach weāve ever had. Something just doesnāt add up.
I said this in the Citadel thread and Iāll say it hereā¦as depressing as the loss was last Saturday, and as ugly as it might be this Saturday, the best indicator for me before the season started was going to be Appy and Louisiana.
If we arenāt competetive in those games, something is terribly wrong. There were some good things in the Citadel game, it wasnāt all bad except for the final score. Did I expect better, much better? Yes. I walked out vowing not to go to another game until the NIners win oneā¦or next season, whichever comes first.
Appy will be the best test to see what we have and that was true before the season and I believe it still is true now.
Hunter described App as a āmust winā game. I donāt know if I agree with that, but we need to win one of them (App or Louisiana) and look competitive in both (if weāre going to show improvement).
I, in no way, see the app game being competitive this year. They beat maine 55-3 and maine is similar in quality of opponent to citadel, if not better. Itās a shame bc there is no reason we should be getting blown out by app.
I see Kevin White bringing in his guy. Job could be a little appealing with a coach starting year 1 with the stadium being completed for now. I would say we need an easier non-con schedule going forward but without beating the Citadel then it doesnāt matter who we play lol
Our non-con is set for next several years with one P4, two G5 which are mainly SB, and a FCS. If we cannot compete with SB than we are not improving which we all know we are not.
App will probably hang 50 on us and they will not call off the dogs since they recruit against us.
Our fans running burner accounts on Twitter with the faux trash talk have been pretty entertaining.
I anticipate close games but mostly losses this season. Iām hopeful for nice surprises, but that never happens. What concerns me now, 15 games in, is we know what we have with this staff. Rosters are not recruited and built up after 3-4 years, where we need to give it time. Everyone flips rosters each season, essentially new teams. If you canāt get it done this year, then itās time to move on. Losing game 1 to FCS at home in year 2, and Iāve seen enough. You do not lose that game. Plain and simple. I would have fired him that night.
