If a coach goes 1-23 I don’t see how you keep him. I want Albin to be successful but the on field results have been awful.
I really hate that it looks like that’s where we’re headed. I do wonder if the talent was so bad last year for him to fully evaluate his coaching staff. He’s kind of stuck with what he’s got for coordinators now and if we go 0-12 won’t have the chance to make changes next season. I would have liked to see what he could do if he could have brought his entire staff from Ohio, but ultimately it’s on him to fill those positions and he will have to live with the consequences. Wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a coaches loyalty to coordinators sink their career.

We have to break the cycle at some point. We play bad football, hire a new coach, have hope, play bad football and fire the coach again.
In my opinion the issues here are not coaching. They have been constant. This program needs a long look in the mirror.
I dont think we can fire Albin after year regardless of outcome. Need to develop some consistency and give him at least a 3rd year to build out his team.
That said, the AD needs to prioritize funding for NIL if we ever expect to compete. If they dont think we can get there, move conferences.
The sad thing is I know we’re gonna get crushed this weekend. It’s next weekend when the embarrassment hits…

We do, but it’s not like we are last in nil in the American. Our outcomes are not a result of nil. App frequently beats us with less nil, as does north texas
Momentum is where the program has been failed by administration. We can blame coaches and all their shortcomings, but we never have captured any momentum. Hill gets credit for going outside the box for hiring someone to push the program forward, both with attention and taking a chance, but Albin was an overcorrection. Zero buzz with this guy, combined with the losses has us all back to square one.
sometimes a program can be lifted by more than wins and losses and I feel like the administration has been inept in figuring this out. We’re all tired of being the best kept secret, both academically and athletically. Someone needs to move the needle. I’m putting my eggs in the Wes miller basket and hopeful that starts getting us the momentum!
Regarding funding NIL - l keep fighting off my Monday morning quarterback glasses - which keep suggesting to me that we probably would have been better off dumping the money for the expansion into funding NIL for a few years and stacking the roster with enough talent to pop out a few 10-win seasons.
We are where we are though and we have got to find a way to get some difference maker players on this roster that aren’t a bunch of head cases and toxic malcontents.
Man, we need NIL for sure but those corporate suites are probably our best bet at generating more NIL. It’s a chicken and egg thing. Being the smallest stadium in the league has been a major disadvantage for the life of the program in recruiting kids and building a larger fan base. Hard to sell more tickets when there is no room for more people. We’re behind the curve starting football so recently. I love that Judy and Phil wanted nice facilities and that we don’t play in a metal erector set like some of our peers but it has slowed our progress significantly. I kinda think we would have sucked with either path and this one is just the one we’re on.
Must see better results this season and improvement as the season goes on. How can you build and recruit for the future if every week you get your brains beat out?
You can’t keep Albin if they go winless or 1 win. There has to be some progress for him to get a 3rd season. Kevin White did not hire him and I am sure would love to pick his own guy. I actually like Albin and had big hopes when he was hired.
