24-34

24-34, records of our opponents thus far :weep:

Monmouth is 2-6, btw

At least we’ve beaten most of them.

don’t know what you said Bust since you and eason are on my ignore user list, but my point is, it is the critical component of RPI.

Part I (25% of the formula): Team winning percentage. For the 2005 season, the NCAA added a bonus/penalty system, where each home win or road loss get multiplied by 0.6 in the winning percentage calculation. A home loss or road win is multiplied by 1.4. Neutral games count as 1.0. More on the effect of these changes can be found here. Part II (50%): Average opponents’ winning percentage. To calculate this, you must calculate each opponent’s winning percentage individually and average those figures. This is NOT calculated from the opponents’ combined record. Games involving the team for whom we are calculating the RPI are ignored. Part III (25%): Average opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage: Basically taking all of the opponents’ Part II values and averaging them.

Well, I said that you are an pretentious, condescending, dried up old jock who pledged to give money and then reneged, but I was also saying that at least we beat most of those teams. Better to have beaten our poor performing opponents than to lose to them.

I also should have said that the ignore feature is for babies. Don’t dish it if you can’t take it.

LoL @ Bust!

That is funny as s$% %

so stop talking about contract extensions or the top 25… we haven’t beaten anybody great yet, and we lost to MONMOTH.

A good title to this thread would be “Things out of our control.” Even GW with their horrible schedule two years back managed an at-large bid. Just gotta win.

Uh, UIC, SIU, and Davidson are all very good wins…I’ll bet now that two of three are in the NCAA in March.

Seriously this thread is premature. Why even worry about it now? Our RPI is going to improve if we continue our current pace. Does anyone think Davidson, App State (okay maybe), Southern Illinois or High Point will continue their paces? No, once they get into conference play their winning percentages will go up and therefore our RPI will climb significantly.

Davidson might not lose a game in SoCon play this year, they’ll be at 20+ wins by the end of the year and App State will do better once in conference play. High Point will probably finish 2nd in the Big South and Southern Illinois will be up there in the MVC (if not 1st).

i agree… and check this out. If the bids went out today, the 2 Carolinas combined may have only 3 teams getting invites.

1 Duke, 17 RPI, 114 SOS 2 UNC-Chapel Hill, 20 RPI, 126 SOS 3 Clemson, 39 RPI, 201 SOS 4 Winthrop, 44 RPI, 14 SOS 5 North Carolina State, 79 RPI, 56 SOS

Kind of a cut and paste from an email I sent to a friend:

SIU is 3-3 and lost to: us, Southern Cal (OJ Mayo), and Indiana (Eric Gordon). That’s us plus two guys who seriously would be in the NBA right now if the NBA hadnt instituted that rule.

Davidson is now 3-5, with losses to UNC (by 4), Duke (by 6), Us (by 7), and UCLA (by 12).

Whats killing us right now is that we have:

 1. Not played (and won) and real road game (Home wins arent worth much in the formula).
 2. These teams we’re beating are good teams but their records are lousy.

As a result, our RPI is an unimpressive 122.

I believe that will change when these two teams, High Point & App St get into their league schedules. Wake, though, I think is gonna take some lumps. They got creamed on the road by a bad UGa team.

But they also almost beat a great Vandy team at Vandy.

I’m not drinking that much kool-aid yet, but the Pomeroy ranking projects a 19-11 record. If that were to hold true, everyone would be pleased.

But they also almost beat a great Vandy team at Vandy.
The average fan doesn't realize how great that Vandy program really is.

But the “average” fan THINKS they know how good Wake is. (please note… NINER fans on this board are way ABOVE “AVERAGE”)
