That would have been a fair fight. We were in the same weight class :lmao:

I see the RPI has done the only thing it’s capable of doing in December – started an argument. The only way to keep your sanity is not to look until Feb. 1. The craziness will sort itself out by then. Right now, it just doesn’t reflect reality in that it over- or undervalues so many teams. And if you don’t believe me, there’s an ATM in our lobby. J/K.

FIGHTING WORDS!

Mike_Persinger wouldn’t talk like that if we knew who the person was behind that secretive screen name.

Right. I should just change my avatar to an ATM.

Anytime there is a controversial call against us, instead of BS, we should chant A-T-M! A-T-M! A-T-M!

Sounds good to me. However, I’m still waiting for the Bacon Salt chant from section 104.
Anybody know how many people in the AP/USA Today Coaches poll are also on the selection committee in a given year?
The answer is zero. Coaches make up the voters in the poll. Athletic directors and conference commissioners comprise the NCAA selection committee.

Selection committee members serve five-year terms, with two old members rotating out and two new members rotating in every year. The committee is balanced geographically, with no fewer than two members representing the East, Midwest, South, and West regions at any one time.

Just win, there are plenty of coaches/voters on this panel that will see the 49ers.

Ah cool. I always just assumed coaches were in it too since they get to do the poll.
hey check this out: SIU plays St Mary’s next, who is #1 in RPI. If SIU could win, we will slide up a good deal

http://kenpom.com/sked.php?&y=2008&team=St.%20Mary’s
SIU can’t catch a break. St Mary’s is ranked 25th in the AP Poll. First time in 18 years.

Oh well. Good for the Niners.

I need some math guy to explain it properly, but it has to do with that same issue that Sagarin has early in the season. There haven't been enough games to link everybody yet. Prior to that, the 2nd RPI component - your opponents winning % carries so much weight that it skews the results.

RPI still confusing me. I agree that your opponents wininng % is carrying too much weight.
