This is a pretty significant hire if he is going to lead our recruiting efforts.
Does this mean Poggi is delegating? Believe he talked about that.
Was Poggi or Brewster Director of Recruiting before this hire?
Was it Jackson Block?
Was reading one of the pre-season articles on AAC, discussing how easiest schedule is based on how many times you get the bottom three on your schedule us, Temple or Tulsa on your conference schedule.
The point they made, i didnt realize, in our 9 losses last year we lost 8 by 14+, and last two conference games were blow outs.
Deduct 1 W for a tougher schedule this year; still seems like a low total.
The odds makers are either 1) lazy or 2) don’t think highly of the roster changes we’ve made, especially at QB.
I’m worried it’s #2.
Its almost always laziness. Not just with us but most of tgese “experts” dont do any significant research
Those are the MGM odds, so more thought thru than an opinion piece. But again, who really knows till you play the games!
But at that low of number and a FCS game seems low, what was it last year?
But as you mention they probably study teams QB situations closely to set the odds.
Max is a huge upgrade at QB, a true dual threat, and has confidence, And Purdie is already better than what we had last year. We also has a vastly improved offensive line and better receivers, and Colin Weber… We should be much better at scoring and ball control, giving our defense a chance to regroup.
The defense should be better too… Balfour know what the coaches want and can be a leader, Handy is going to be explosive and Clowney should be better. Our only D weakness was linebacker depth and we just took care of that!
You speak like a guy with some inside info.
For the gamblers reading this thread, I was listening to The Who last night….
Just not negative, Ninerfan55
Gotcha. Its appreciated, trust me. I get the skepticism a lot of us have but we need ro try to show a bit of optimism. I think we had a great offseason
The issue here is it’s Vegas being negative. It’s not a fan thing. They’re supposedly unbiased.
I’m hoping they are dead wrong.
FWIW I thought Brown looked good, and I think Purdie looks like he has a really high ceiling.
True but they also dont have much to go on other than last year, and program perception.

[/quote] and unfortunately this is the perception we’ve built for ourselves:
It’ll take several years of success to shake that.
I agree that our perception is shit but i dont think it will take several years to change. If we have a good season, we will be seen as a program on the rise.
