From everything I’ve seen I believe the coaching staff are contempt at Brown as QB1, Purdie 2, and Ivey 3. Besides, not many QB’s will want to come here just to sit on the bench all season
I just mean like how many FBS programs only have 3 QBs? We have walk on in Steven Johnson right ? Anyone else?
Johnson would be QB4. We don’t have a QB5 now.
We could call the Hough / Tarheel kid, but not sure how he’d feel about our situation. I was spoiled as a Vol fan, they typically would carry at least 3 guys who could legitimately start (and not just be a placeholder). Dunno that we have the cache to command that.
Is Ivey on scholarship now? I know he played a lot last year but technically he’s a walk-on type a who may have earned a scholarship by playing for a bad team. What I’m saying is Purdie and Brown are scholarship level QBs. Ivey and Johnson are not. We need more than 2 scholarship level QBs in a qb room
Wishing brown great health so Purdie can play 4 games or less and redshirt.

Poggi gave lip service to giving Ivey a scholarship after a great game last year but I don’t know if they actually did it.
I’ve maintained before that you need 3 scholarship level QBs, but there is a sentiment here that kids won’t want to play here as a #3 (and there’s evidence of that based on all the transfers we have had). I still think you need 3, but…

Besides QB, where have we upgraded at? Do we have less depth? I just don’t think will see much of an improvement. Tough schedule too

Schedule is tougher but we are more talented at every position. I dont know how you can see otherwise. Possibly not as much overall talent at LB bc of losing hill-green and knight.

We could get worse at every position and be better overall if we have even a serviceable quarterback this season and an offensive line that gives him some time.
We had the worst offense I’ve ever seen last season.

Hell yeah.
Would his pride allow him to come back?
If he’s looking for QB1 he’s gonna have to drop down levels.
He really messed up transferring out from Charlotte.
He would have gotten all that time Ivey got and likely made the decision to move on from Jones an easier one that happened earlier in the year.
Now.
If he came here he would be the presumptive QB2 and undoubtedly get PT if Brown gets hurt so same situation. But he really miscalculated last year.
