the amount of TV games is not as important as if they are âawayâ games. I donât care about home games so much.
I doubt the locally produced games will originate from Trask Coliseum. Theyâll be road games. Will try to confirm with Benny.
For any out-of-towners or if you can't make the home games, all home games are available live and archived (VIDEO and AUDIO) through Yahoo.com ($4.99/mo). Info is on Charlotte49ers.com.
so NONE of the road games are on Yahoo?
Nobody cares about us but us apparently. If we donât turn it around quickly itâll get worse. Hope weâre competitive this year and play like we give a crap.
Damn, itâs hard to follow this team without sitting in front of a computer! :unhappy:

partially true, but you canât tell me there is not negligence involved somewhere.
CSTV is 610 on DirecTV. I get it. The production quality, in general, is awful. N.C. State-ECU football broadcast nearly unwatchable, and not because of the poor teams involved.
I bet you Furman or Wofford will be on FSS nonstop.
The CSTV contract that Bruno negotiated/signed/whatever was already known to be a debacle. As Run pointed out back when we joined, the A10 used to have its own TV network that did a very good job of putting a bunch of games where fans could see them. I considered that to be a strength of the league. But league officials screwed it up royally.
I dont begin to understand the potential red tape that holds these things up, but it comes off as some of the worst foresight imaginable. You really cannot afford to get this wrong. The TV product, in this day and age, IS your product, because it is the only way your league can directly compete against the other leagues. You might have great league games in small, classic, packed houses, but if no one sees it on TV and ESPN/Sportscenter canât feature them, youâve got nuthinâ. Youâre small time. Basicly, just a notch above good High School ball.

See my last post. As a fan, Iâm right there with you. As an AD, the home games, in a packed house, are perhaps more important.
Itâs a tradeoff between making it easier for your fanbase to follow the team, versus the entire dog and pony show you get to put on display when its in your house (you da man).
I agree with NA on this. And the best deals are all done at the conference level, not the school level. Unless youâre Notre Dame football, itâs hard to survive without a conference TV contract. Southern, as noted, has a pretty good deal in that regard with a regional network. MASN makes some sense, but theyâre not available on TWC. I get them on DirecTV, too.
Shouldnât High School sports w/ their low fan base get less coverage than a major college. Also, if the Observer is Regional, why does it cover Charlotte HSâ more than others in the region.
SCK, this is a discussion of TV contracts, if Iâm not mistaken. Donât hijack the thread.
I was really starting to get excited for the upcoming season, then this comes out and brings me back down. Back down to realityâŚ
As soon as I learned what MASN was, and even after Powerbait filled us in on the issues there, I was begging, and will continue to beg, for us (the A10) to get on there. I completely agree with Mike about conference > individual school deals. It makes sense because youâre bundling the programs together to a network that can cherry pick the best games, but youc an leverage to squeeze a few more out of them. Both sides win.
I donât begin to know what the holdups are (itâs usually just money), but we will not succeed as a porgram or a league without a good solid TV contract, and dare I say it, take the lead to to try to get as many games in HD as possible (product innovation/differentiation). It costs more, but you HAVE to take risks to change your position in the pecking order. Just a handful of instant classic games, on HD, on the right nights/dates, during a season, can completely change the perception of the entire conference. If you doubt it, look at how the Xavier/OSU game was just talked about again, over 6 mos later. Imagine if our classic bouts with Cincy were in HD on primetime, even if that was the only game we got out of the deal. Huge percerption boost. Iâd dip in to the coffers, at least a little bit, to try it for a couple of seasons (loss leader).
I wouldnât be surprised to see Sig Sports pick up the rest and show some of them⌠This sucks!!!
The fact that all the A-10 TV games fit on 1 page shows just how bad the A-10âs TV Deal is.
People actually get paid to make these decisions???
St. Joeâs a few years ago, other Philly schools, Xavier recently were among the best things you had for leverage. Great basketball played there historically. Somehow no one took advantage of that moment in the conferenceâs history. MASN would be, as I said, the best fit. Iâd love to see more of your games on TV. Iâm not coming out to a bunch of games, but Iâd watch if they were on TV, even if it was just as background noise for something else. I tend to watch most of whatâs on.
as I said in the shoutboxâŚI wanna know when the A10 ADs are gonna sack up and run Bruno out on a rail. The fact that the league is in such a terrible way with the tv deal alone should be enough to end her tenure imo!

I am just tired of the shaft. This school has limited fan base as it is, it seems like being a 49er fan is the hardest job in the world. When you see schools like Davidson and UNCW getting superior TV packages, it makes you wonder who has the rudder.
