A-10 commitments for 2010-11

Hadn’t heard anything about him not qualifying. Just sounds like he’s decided that he can do better than Bona and will spend a year at prep, then most likely will end up in the Big East from what I’m reading.

BTW, looks like Kadeem Jack is backtracking on his decision to prep after both Kentucky and UNC-CH came calling after the former lost out on both Jones and Leslie during recruiting and the latter losing the Wear twins to transfer.

i understand the appeal at playing at these schools but you would think some kids would be insulted with the “well, we lost out on the guys we really wanted, so you want to come play for us”. doesnt anybody want to go to a very good, yet not elite program where they can play early?

I suspect that if URI had made the NCAAs, as well as kept Billy Baron in the fold, then perhaps Cain doesn’t defect. But after Jim Baron let his own son change his mind and head off to the ACC, sort of difficult to tell another player “Too bad, you signed a binding contract”!

Now, if Ron Robert decides on GT over St. Joe’s, he’s probably going to be riding the pine on the former while seeing considerable PT at the latter. Ditto for Tashawn Mabry if he decides on a BCS team over URI.

Anyway, will be interesting to see how players like Baron, Cain, and Carter do at their “new” destinations.

i mean a guy like jack who will sit the bench at uk and unc. why not go somewhere where you can play.

Fordham announces the first recruiting class for new coach Tom Pecora. Bronx Rams sign 4 players: 6-10 C Kervin Bristol, 6-2 PG Branden Frazier, 6-4 SG Lamount Samuell, and and 6-7 SF Marvin Dominique.

In addition, 2009 signee 6-8 PF Brian Freeman will be eligible this coming season after sitting out in 2009-10 due to academics.

Big pick-up for St. Joe’s as former St. John’s commit 6-7 combo F Ronald Roberts selects the Hawks over GT and UVa.

Other decisions that should come this week involving the A-10 include 6-5 SF Tashawn Mabry [Rocky Mount (NC) H.S.], who is considering URI, and 6-8 PF Remi Dibo [Mountain State University Academy (WV)], who had narrowed down to Duquesne and Bona prior to Kentucky getting involved.

Per Zagoria, Dr. G signs 6-3 SG Cole Stefan, a finalist for 2010 Mr. Basketball in Minnesota. Per Rivals and Scout, had offers from Auburn, Nevada, Northern Iowa, Tulsa, USC, and Utah State, among others. ESPN grade = 90.

Meanwhile, read that Duquesne just missed out on 6-8 PF Jonathan Graham of Baltimore, who chose Penn State over the Dukes. Was hoping that perhaps Major & Co. were in the mix, but apparently not.

i dont think we needed to bring in a power forward for this season but i imagine that when we bring one or two in next season they will be more highly regarded than graham, especially with the promise of playing time.

How does LaSalle keep getting these good recruits with that sorry excuse for an arena and no measurable success for many years?

Graham one of those unsigned players that the more I read about, the more intrigued I became. And didn’t realize until today that he’s the son of former Maryland standout Ernest Graham. Anyway, wish him well at State College.

he seems like a good get for penn state and should be able to play early there. i imagine next season we are going to make a push for a star power forward and or center.

Philadelphia, Good Academics, Head Coach can go out and recruit.

no offense but the academics arent that good.

no offense but the academics arent that good.[/quote]I know one thing, if my child attended a school that cost $43,000 per year, the academics better be pretty good!

Anyway, a new arena is part of the most recent LSU master plan, but haven’t read anything about when that might get built.

Probably when they get enough fans to fill up the 150 seats their arena has now.

For some reason I confuse the arena (1998) with its namesake, who led the Explorers to NIT and NCAA championships back in the mid-1950s, then took his game to the NBA, where he also won a championship and was a 5-time All-Star. D’oh!!!

Added Voncina to list. Also know that Bona, Duquesne, and URI are still actively recruiting, so should have word on those in the near future as well.

Mabry to URI.
