ESPN.com: Atlantic 10 Commitments Class of 2012

Don’t you just hate Xavier!

Cincinnati.com: Xavier gets commitment for 2012

ESPN.com: D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera - ESPNU 2012 Super 60

Xavier gets another 2012, per reports on Twitter:

RT @PrepHoopsAssist: RT @Ohiohshoops: According to a source, CJ Getty (6’10/2012) of Findlay committed to Xavier.

2k, there seems to be confusion over whether or not Getty has committed to X, in spite of ESPN listing him as having done so. Xavier beatwriter Shannon Russell hasn’t mentioned it in her blog and a thread about him on XavierHoops.com gives the impression that it hasn’t happened. Also doesn’t seem like Mack to recruit a 2-star player.

Anyway, will add to list if confirmed. Thanks!!!

Sounds as if he committed to X, although X didn’t recruit him, Kevin Hart style.

Just on the A-10 board, looks like Smith-Rivera has opened back up his options. Saying he’s “wide open”

X-Men get a commit from 6-8 PF James Farr of Evanston, IL. Chose Muskies over Indiana and Bradley.

A big commit - literally - for Xavier as 7+ C Sim Bhullar of Toronto/Huntington (WV) Prep commits to the Musketeers. ESPN lists him as 7-4/330, while TSN has him at 7-5/350. Per Rivals, also had offers from Cincy, Pitt, Washington State, and West Virginia.

Sportingnews.com Big commitment: Xavier lands 7-5, 350-pound Sim Bhullar

BTW, younger brother Tanveer (class 2013) is listed at 7-3.

My Cousin knows his younger brother. These guys are beasts, but weren’t that talented when I saw them play. They just dominated because their HUGE.

Does sound like the Bhullar brothers were pretty raw to start with, but no denying their size. One piece I read on Sim mentions conditioning issues that seem to be getting addressed since he landed at Huntington Prep in West Virginia. I suspect Aaric Murray’s leaning toward WVU may have been a deciding factor on Sim committing to Xavier, though that’s just a wild guess on my part. What I do know is that X dodged a problem with Michael Chandler ending up at UCF, where it is very questionable that he’ll even qualify, much less the even bigger questions now with the NCAA investigating what may have been improper recruiting contacts.

Temple picks up a transfer in 6-5 SG Dalton Pepper, who asked for and received his release from West Virginia. A high school teammate of Lavoy Allen, Pepper will sit out 2011-12 and have 2 years left.

Ex-Hoya Vee Sanford headed to Dayton.

Headed to Xavier.

Dukes pick up some size in Radford transfer Martins Abele, who will sit out 2011-12 per NCAA rules, then have 3 seasons on the Bluff.

[Article also notes that 2011-12 frosh Mamadou Datt is injured, but sounds like he’ll be ready by November. Will miss DU’s 5-game Canadian tour next month, though.]
