A-10 commitments for 2012-13

Explorers get first commit in 6-9 C Jermaine Davis out of the Cleveland-metro area. Only question is whether or not Dr. G will still be coaching in Philly after the upcoming season since you’d have to think he’s THE coach on the “Hot Seat” in the A-10!

Minutemen will have to wait until 2012-13 to see 2011 signee Jordan Laguerre on the court.

St. Joe’s gets a verbal from former Purdue commit 6-2 PG Kyle Molock out of the Columbus, Ohio-metro area. He is originally from Delaware and grew up watching Jameer Nelson and Delonte West play for the Hawks, so he’s familiar with Martelli & Co., who have been after him for some time.

Rhody Rams get their first commit in Rivals Top 150 player in PF Jordan Hare out of Michigan. Depending on which recruiting service, etc., you read, he’s between 6-8 and 6-10. Chose URI over Michigan, Michigan State, Bama, Mizzou, Stanford, UConn, and USC, among others.

Per Jeff Goodman’s tweet at CBSSports.com, GW picks up a commit from 6-9 PF Kyprianos “Paris” Maragkos. A member of the Greek U-18 team, he is playing at the Blue Ridge School in Virginia this year. Haven’t found a lot on him, but apparently he was on the Niners’ radar per the following pieces.

ESPN.com, etc., reporting that GW lands another one in Patricio Garino. The 6-6 SG is a member of the Argentine U-19 team and is prepping at Montverde Academy in Florida.

Saint Louis gets a commit from Chicago-area PG Keith Carter. Had originally committed to hometown Loyola over Creighton, but had a change of heart. Didn’t hurt that recently hired Billiken AHC Jim Whitesell is the former HC at Loyola of Chicago.

Big pick up for Owls as Dunphy & Co. complete their recruiting with 6-7 PF Daniel Dingle out of the Bronx. Chose Temple over Auburn, Miami-FL, and Seton Hall.

Flyers pick up 6-9 PF Devon Scott of Columbus, Ohio. The one-time Cincinnati-commit will join his high school teammate Jalen Robinson at UD.

FWIW, Scout chose two A-10 schools among its top 10 non-BCS recruiting classes - #3 Xavier and #9 Dayton.

Updated list with couple of additions in 6-8 F/C Javon Baumann (Germany) to St. Joe’s and 6-2 G Mandell Thomas (Rochester, NY/Notre Dame Prep) to Fordham. Latter will sign in the spring and his father played at URI.

In addition, looks like all the early commits signed NLIs with the exception of UMass recruit (and one-time GW signee) Trey Davis.

And speaking of players named Trey Davis in the A-10, 2011-12 Richmond frosh F Trey Davis will redshirt this season, along with fellow freshmen F Alonzo Nelson-Odada and C Luke Piotrowski. Hmmm…

Lonergan backs up his recent comments about importance of recruiting locally and gets a commit from 6-1 PG Joe McDonald of Lorton, VA.

Ron Everhart wasted little time in finding another guard in light of the announcement that Duquesne sophomores T.J. McConnell and Mike Talley (plus little used/injured frosh F Danny Herrera) are transferring.

Baltimoresun.com: Former Southern guard Bryan Harris commits to Duquesne

Added Ingram to the list. No official word on what’s going to happen with the Duquesne and URI signees/recruits per the coaching changes.
