haha! because of this thread, i'm starting to understand the fixation by metro, et al with the old c-usa days...this **** is hilarious! It wasn't always hilarious, especially when dealing with the mempiss fans. If you said anything to them, whether stating the truth or joking, you had a strong chance of being banned by their mods.
The Cinci fans knew their place. They knew they were good, but only because their team was loaded with convicts.
Thanks for showing me what a tough and a fart smellow you are. Donāt be stranger and stop by from time to time. You are way more fun than mempiss fan
said the simpleton after getting kicked to the KERB and pissed on!
yes lew, kerb is appropriate.
as for 89, going on 9, i was reading the new england journal of medicine study about how males with huge self-doubt issues, and teeny weeny weenies, resort to many, many, many emoticons when posting on sports message boards.
give 'em a call itty bitty, they might update the study soon.
Over, iād respond but certain idiots might read that as a call for you to help me.
you know; like youāve always done when iām here.
oh yeah. cincy fans knew their place: first place baby, first place.
dumbass punks these days. i swear.
According to UMass/A-10 beatwrtier Matt Vautour of the Daily Hampshire Gazette, the Atlantic 10 received bids from:

Why is Philly not a choice?

Thatās a nasty choice. Not one of those towns has a major airport. If anyone says Cinci has a major airport, I will hunt you down. I have been stuck there frequently for hours because the frequency of flights to ,e.g., BWI, was three hours apart.
Why cannot they just have it somewhere nice or somewhere close to a major airport. Would Orlando or Miami care? If not, why not Philly or even Baltimore?

After re-reading it, these are towns that made bids for the conference. So I guess Philly wasnāt interested.
I hope it stays in AC for eternity.

At least there are numerous flights from Charlotte to most of those cities, especially Hartford/Springfield and Philly (short drive to AC from Philly). I donāt think there are nearly as many flights to Pittsburgh as there used to be.
Does Dayton even have an airport?

So Pittsburgh doesnāt have a major airport?
Legit question, Iāve never been there so I have no idea :P.
So Pittsburgh doesn't have a major airport? It used to be a major US Air Hub, but the hub is not as big as it used to be. As I stated above, there are lots of flights from Charlotte to Springfield (Hartford/Springfield Bradley International) and lots of flights from Charlotte to Philly (short drive to AC).Legit question, Iāve never been there so I have no idea :P.
We may have to drive to Dayton.
Does Dayton even have an airport?
Not sure if you are being facetious or not on that. Anyway, Iāve flown through Dayton before. USAirways has 5 non-stops to Dayton and 6 non-stop returns. The flights are all in the 90 minute range.
Where else on that list could it go that is actually an enjoyable destination?
Where else on that list could it go that is actually an enjoyable destination?
Yes. Dirty casinos are just what I want to do between games.
Iād rather go to a city where my options for enjoying my time between games donāt include throwing money in the trash or getting hammered.
Sadly, Cincinnati is probably the best option on that list for that.

If you throw in Philly then you have another option where you donāt have to throw away money or get hammered to have a good time.

Sadly, Philly wasnāt an option.
And I doubt there will be time to take a hour train ride there and back to check out a museum or something.

None of those places are appealing to me on that list. I like it to be in someplace warm that you can actually vacation in like FL, prbly wouldnāt be smart for the players though. Would be nice if it was at the Time Warner Cable Arena or they at least tried to get it.

But you canāt have a conference tourney in a location where there are no schools nearby.
AC works because it has a number of schools within close proximity and has enough vices to get people interested in coming.

And its a neutral site. If anybody remembers the old Metro days, UL had a huge advantage when they hosted the tourney in Louisville. I donāt want to give that advantage to Xavier. There really shouldnāt be a contest. AC is the best fit.
From Dick Jerardi of the Philadelphia Daily Newsā¦
Whither A-10 Tournament? An announcement on the site for next seasonās A-10 Tournament is not imminent, but is getting closer. The finalists include incumbent Atlantic City, Springfield, Mass., and others not yet identified.
The Palestra?
āWe did not submit a formal bid,ā Penn athletic director Steve Bilsky said. "We kind of told various people that weād love to have it. We would do it in a way that would make it easy for them. Weād more or less rent the facility out for them and then work like hell to get everybody in Philadelphia supporting it, including the Sports Congress.
"We didnāt want to get into a bid where you put out a guarantee or whatever. Weāre getting kind of mixed responses to that [from the leagueās athletic directors and presidents]. Some people have said, āThatās great.ā Some people have said, āItās hard then to compare it to other people.ā
āWe basically said if you want to come to Philadelphia and you want to come to the Palestra, weāll make this work for you, economically and every other way. Thatās kind of the position we have and weāre waiting for some clarification.ā
It is unclear if the Palestra is a player for the tournament or not.
āWe would welcome a bid from the Palestra,ā A-10 commissioner Bernadette McGlade wrote in an e-mail. "We sent the RFP [Request For Purchase] document to the Palestra and had various conversations with Steve. He confirmed that Penn did not formally want to bid but would welcome the A-10 Championship. We are very appreciative of this standing offer.
āHowever, Division I conference championships like the A-10 championship have tremendous appeal and economic impact potential so the process is very competitive when you combine the economic realities with a host siteās ability to enthusiastically support the event on every level. Selecting a site will be a difficult decision for the athletic directors. We have excellent choices for the future A-10 menās basketball championships.ā
One thing Bilsky can promise is that the Sports Congress would get behind it just like it did for the NCAA Lacrosse Championships.
āWe worked with hotels to get really good rates,ā Bilsky said. āWe would be able to do that kind of stuff very easily.ā
