I’m afraid you’re right
Borzello has Owls #5 as well:
No point in rankings until portal activity settles down.
Yep, all are pointing out that rankings will get reshuffled.
Rothstein has FAU #9 and Memphis #41:
Call me crazy but I think FAU holds their players and adds big pieces through the portal. May coaches plenty of minutes for everyone and coming back with a preseason #5 ranking with a chance for another F4 run is appealing if anyone plays the game to win anymore.
Can’t do both. I think they were only losing one player, unless others decide to try the portal
May’s first recruit Michael Forrest is the only player who has exhausted his eligibility. Owls are in the mix for a 3* high schooler but can’t remember if he’s a big or not, but some size is what they need.
And moving up to the AAC. They have a lot of things going right for them. I’m jealous and depressed at the same time.
Why depressed? CBI Champs BABY!!
Of course, they could always pull a Tarhole next year, though I doubt they’ll get the opportunity to play near as many quad 1 games.
What will help is if they can stay highly ranked going into scheduling more teams will WANT to schedule them. It’s amazing when you win games that matter how it impacts scheduling.
That is about the only hope I have for the CBI actually helping us now - is that other programs see us as CBI winners not under .500 cusa record and weak ooc team.
Yeah but does Ron WANT to schedule better teams? Or is he fine with a cupcake schedule so he can have a winning record and get on the radio and say how we don’t know anything about playing cupcakes, no indication his team will be better next year so doubt he ups the schedule complexity… we will see in August…
They purposefully scheduled weak after they lost their best player Jahmir…so I’d bet your left testicle they schedule just as soft again after losing their top 2 players.
No chance they up the OOC schedule after losing Aly and Brice and are taking a step up in Conference.
If they do…I’m calling it now…“2023-2024 Sanchez Farewell Tour”
He’ll be lucky to win 12 games.
Out of curiosity, and I don’t have time to check, who does UAB play OOC or ECU, for the past few years? ECU, because they are now our closest conference mate and would be, from a local standpoint, be probably working from the same regional scheduling pool as us and UAB, because they’ve had more recent established success to see how their better metrics translate to getting to play better opponents both home and away.
Well this year we were 337 out of 358
FAU was 251
North Texas 121
UAB was 302
Davidson 202
UNCA 180
APP was 186
ECU was 353 (Mind you we always make fun of their schedule)
UNCG was 81
UNCW was 57
Winthrop was 93
Only teams in either current or future league with weaker OOC was ECU, Tulane and FIU.
Last Year
We were 165
FAU was 325
North Texas 41
UAB was 234
Davidson 219
UNCA 171
APP was 21
ECU was 342 (This is why we make fun of them)
UNCG was 255
UNCW was 306
Winthrop was 29
With Ron here:
2018 171
2019 326
2020 280
2021 165
2022 337
Ron’s best two years? 2019 and 2022 the 300+ ooc schedules.
There really isnt an excuse for us to have 1 let alone two 300+ schedules in a 4 year period.

I heard Walker as in Wes and Walker recently state that he thinks if Sanchez has another mediocre year in 2023-24 then he thinks he will be gone. I am of the same opinion. He cannot continue to kick the can down the road. I believe that he must show considerable improvement next year. I do not think he will since the two transfers occurred. So, I think next year will be his last.
If we have Sanchez past next season, it’s time to fly the fire Mike hill banners.
