Heck, Charlotte's already had to sell recruits on going to Hattiesburg...Olean, NY can't be worse...can it?
My wife is from Mississippi, so I'm not going to say much about except you had better like pine trees -- a whole lot of pine trees!!!
Actually, update New York is quite scenic ā just donāt want to be there when thereās 2-3 feet of snow on the ground and itās 15 below zero!
BTW, not only have we had to sell Hattiesburg, but Greenville, NC as well.

4) The A-10 has its own TV network as well as ESPN coverage
5) You get to visit New York City, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, etc.
These are the 2 major positives in the A10 move. I have family in NY (15 minute train ride to Fordham) so I'll probably go up for that game. I always love going to DC and taking in all the history. I've never been to Philly, so now I have an excuse. It depends on how the schedule falls in to place next year.
Another positive is that these 3 cities are very large media outlets. Maybe more national exposure? If we are the dominant team in the league, people will get excited when we come. Weāll see.
Speaking of the new chancellorā¦ has there been any speculation on who they might be looking at or when they might make a decision? I really hope they get someone that will push for football and the name change. Not sure how realistic that is thoughā¦

Hopefully the AD will be thinking towards the future and have a plan in place for the next realignment.
As others have stated on this board, since the Big East will probably not be an option - I like the idea of forming a new conference with only about 8 (maybe 9) schools to include Old Dominion, VCU, GW, George Mason, UNCW and Charleston.
I am looking forward to catching more games on TV and in person. The A-10 has its own television network that runs a few games each week on several different cable channels here in CT. Theyāre carrying 31 games this year and everyone, down to the lowliest team gets 3-4 games aired.

Instead of whining about the lack of football or that the A10 move will really suck, why don't fans try to find to promote what the immediate future is for this school?

I respect your opinion but here is the flip side:
1991 we upgraded from the little Sunbelt to the big time Metro
1996 we upgraded again to CUSA.
From 96-04 we had a window of opportunity to read the writing on the wall before the next confernce shake up, and we missed it. In those 7-8 years football should of been put forward.
I quote an assistant AD speaking to my face, ā9-11 is why football was put on hold.ā Though I agree that made raising funds hard, you canāt just quit. Failing to get on board the next conference merry go round landed us in the sorry A10.
CUSA was the best thing for Charlotte athletics, they were holding our feet to the fire on football, and now the anti football crowd got their wish, because football is not pressured by the A10.
Our officials were afraid of risk in this 96-04 window to chase football. Necks should of been stuck out, and the dice rolled (a la USF).
Our administration has a small school mentality with low expectations and goals,
sadlyā¦a self fulfilling prophecy.

What team in the A10 becomes the game we bring recruits in to watch? My first thoughts were X maybe GW or St. Joes, but will our student body really get excited about those? Will any of those games be a lock to be televised?
At this point I went looking at Conf RPIsā¦ CUSA is #9 mainly due to the bottom feeders in the league. The A10 which we have been sold on being more solid from top to bottomā¦ #13! The highest RPI ranked team they have is GW at 71 (based on early out of conference wins). ALL the other schools are 84 or lower. This is very depressing.

This is probably the worst year for the A10 that I can recall. Two teams made the Elite 8 last year, and many programs lost alot of seniors. The last two seasons named A10 players as player of the year. There will be ranked opponents coming into Halton every year. It will not be as high profile as C-USA was, but close. We still will have the capabillity to compete against national powers.
I read that annual RPI link and it didnāt even mention Umass a true Powerhouse of the 90ās! Anyway I am really excited about you guys coming in. The A10 is really young right now and also very competitive. Last year C-USA had a 4 or 5 way time for 1st place. Next year I see a potential log jam forming toward the top of the Confrence. As for Charlotteās big Rival for the future there are a few candidates. Xavier, also in Cincy and they have had their way with the bearcats of late. Richmond, your nearest neighbor and a do-able road trip with 9,000-plus areana similar to Halton. Temple, the 7th winningest program in college sport history w/a hall of fame coach. GWU in DC northern Virginia.
Would somebody please go to ESPNās website and pull up the Bearcatās schedule and explain to me how in hell their RPI is 22.
The committee needs to stop looking at this as an important tool. Cincy has beaten NOBODY. Heck, weāve got better wins than they do (Okay, maybe not, but close). Their best win is probably us. People will say SOS, they did play Wake, Ill, UL twice and lost all four.
If playing good teams and losing is all it takes, letās pack our bags and play people at their places all the time and then lose only a couple in the A-10, weāre golden.
The RPI is nothing but a human ranking, just like the others. BCS conferences are taken care of by the initial rank.

They have three good wins right now: us, DePaul, and Miami (Ohio). While they did lose to Illinois, Wake, and Louisville (twice), they get credit for playing them, just like we got credit for playing Cincinnati twice and Alabama, even though we lost two of those three games. We'd probably be around 30 or so, maybe even top 30, if we had beaten East Carolina, so I don't think 22 is too far off for Cincinnati. If we had beaten both ECU and Rutgers, we'd probably be between Louisville and Cincinnati in the RPI right now.

That's Temple's strategy every year, and it usually works pretty well. The past couple of years though, they've lost a few too many, both in and out of conference than they probably should have. They almost always go into the A-10 though with a losing record but a really high strength of schedule.
The RPI is nothing but a human ranking, just like the others.
The RPI is mostly done using a team's winning percentage, their opponents' winning percentage, and their opponents' opponents' winning percentage. That actually removes the human element entirely. It could be argued that the percentages used to calculate it, along with the new weighting of road games, is somewhat subjective, but for the most part, the RPI is a fairly good indicator of how a team is doing and how tough their competition has been. It's certainly a better indicator than either of the polls.
Agree that we lost to a couple of teams that we shouldnāt have or weād be much higher. All Iām saying is that they havenāt beaten anyone. The only team they beat OOC that stands any chance of going to the NCAA is Miami OH, and they are borderline.
Of course, Davidson is our best hope. Iāll shut up now.

Can't explain other than to read Powerbait's reply, wins and more wins gives a team a better RPI.
Cincinnati compared to Charlotteā¦ not much difference, the East Carolina loss really hurts if they donāt win another game or two to stay above 200.
