Whatâs keeping us down are the two 100-200 losses. Terrible.
I heard Jerry Pom on radio Pennerâs show today. He pointed out that S ILL is ranked in the top 30 but hasnât played anyone in the top 50. Theyâre ranked that high because they havenât played ANY dogs. I havenât studied it in detail but I would think that LBSU and UNCA are bringing us down quite a bit.
Originally posted by hootie@Feb 9 2005, 04:00 PM All I'm saying is that they haven't beaten anyone. The only team they beat OOC that stands any chance of going to the NCAA is Miami OH, and they are borderline. The ones that really get me are Wichita State and Pacific. Pacific is 1-1 against top 50 RPI teams, and 1-1 against teams between 50 and 100 in the RPI. They've played all of four games against teams ranked better than 100 in the RPI all season, and they've only won two of them. In their current 14-game winning streak, the highest-ranked team they've played is #81 Utah State. After that, every team they've played during that streak that pushed them into the top 25 polls is ranked #129 or lower. They've played a total of 10 games against teams outside the top 200. The thing is, they have 18 wins overall and no bad losses. They're 16-0 against sub-100 teams, compared to our 8-2.
Wichita State, meanwhile, is 1-0 against top 50 RPI teams. However, theyâre also 11-3 against sub-100 teams, including a loss to #222 Indiana State. But because theyâre 17-3, theyâre #29 in the RPI, even if all three of their losses are bad losses and they only have one good win (#13 Southern Illinois). And speaking of Southern Illinois, the Salukis are 0-2 against top 50 teams (one of which was Wichita State) and 5-4 against teams rated between 50 and 100. Their best win was against #61 UTEP. But theyâre 12-0 against sub-100 teams, so theyâre all the way up at #13 in the RPI.
If we had just beaten ECU and Rutgers, weâd be around 20 or so. And if we had managed to finish off Alabama, weâd probably be around 15-20. But as things stand, weâre a team with a few good wins and a few bad losses.

Originally posted by Zone9er@Feb 9 2005, 06:07 PM It appears to me this new league would actually have a higher RPI than the A-10 Not most years. The CAA generally only has 1 or 2 teams in the top 100 RPI. The A10 often gets multiple 10 100 teams. Dayton, GW, Xavier, URI, UMass, Temple, St. Joes, Charlotte, and others are usually within the top 100 or lurking near it most years.

So Zone. are you telling me that my 760 SAT wouldnât cut it now.
Iâm hurt.

Sounds like you need yourself a yankee-friend.

Hootie, per the Buckley Amendment -you no longer have to disclose your SAT score to everyone on this board. But if you can help us figure out how to undo Title IX, you not only get in, you get a full ride.

Yes, ODU, VCU, GMU and UNCW are in the CAA, but Charleston is in the SoCon, GW is in the A-10 and we are still in C-USA.
BTW, I know we are somewhat disappointed with our attendance with Houston (5,878) but in other A-10 action tonight Temple defeated Dayton in front of 2,954 fans; UMass beat rival Rhode Island in front of the largest A-10 crowd of 4,481; Richmond lost to LaSalle at home with a crowd of 4,333; and last & least - Fordham won at home against St Bonaventure with 2,288 attending.
Meanwhile, although GW & Charleston did not play, ODU improved to 22-3 by winning at Delaware; George Mason (13-9) & VCU (13-9) both won on the road while UNCW (15-7) won at home and turned out 5,268 fans against the worst team in their league, a 5-17 Wm & Mary team.
For those that want to complain about our attendance tonight against Houston - just wait to see what sort of crowd we have next year when we play Duquesne.
Thought it might be interesting to see what we were all saying about the A10 when we moved in. Might be a good time to review how we felt going in vs. how we feel about leaving.
LOL
