Really? Ask 10 people to name something from Davinci. I bet most of them say the Mona Lisa.
The answer you’d get most likely is “Who?” followed by "He invinted the Da Vinci Code, right?

maybe if you asked a Tarhole fan. let’s ask 10 Charlotte grads.

then that is terribly sad.

I'd also heard that Engineering and Business were good, but I had actually, and erroneously, heard from a UNCG Nursing student last year that we had lost our accreditation in Nursing. I was pretty TO'd that lie was being spread.

Does any school have a well-known and prestigious Education program? I think we as well as ASU are pretty well at the top of the list in NC. Could be wrong though.

I’m glad that was a lie. My ex-gf told me that when I was talking about Charlotte with her. She was a nursing student at USCar.

I’ve always heard good things about our education college. I’ve heard it brought up in that light a lot.

NAMES OF SAID PROMINENT INVENTORS/SCIENTISTS. NEXT.
I don't see duration or level of notoriety as a scale of importance. More people know Britney Spears than Ron Paul. Who is more important?

Our nursing school did lose accreditation. That was several years ago though and it has been regained since.

Okay, I can’t read any more of this thread.

Art is a necessity to science. Without the creativity that art engenders, we would never have developed the computer, telephone, or spaceship. All of these began as sketches. Like it or not, art and science are inherently intertwined. Look at a Ferrari – it is built for speed, but the designers made it sleeker and sleeker until the wind tunnel showed minimal drag. The engineers conceded some in order to make an attractive product.

As for the future of this school, we need to avoid being called a ‘tech’ school. A “Doctoral/research extensive” broad label is as restrictive as we need to be. We have the following great programs: Architecture (top 5), Nursing (top 25), Engineering (unknown ranking), Computing and Informatics (top 5), Education (unknown ranking), Business (unranked, but growing in prestige rapidly). The ‘arts’ part of the new College of Arts and Architecture need to step it up.

But avoid restricting ourselves to ‘tech’.
Eason, you’re not allowed to look at this picture. It contains no chemistry, equations, or scientific formulas. It is useless.
I don’t know… I wouldn’t mind studying the curves a little closer. There is plenty of math there. And if you think there’s no chemistry, then you must not have seen she and I at the club last week… :shades:
As an MFA holder, I’d love to see some evidence of this.
lol

According to who and ranked that in what group?

I googled this and went to their website and didn't see the numbers Darren posted. Lastest numbers they had were for 2007 and for 2006.
One thing I've been told by people both inside and outside of the fine arts community is that a MFA is quickly becoming the new MBA. Business see in fine arts students an ability to think outside the box and a willingness to explore unconventional options.

Maybe in very select fields like industrial design or marketing communications. You won’t become a CFO, CMO, or COO with a MFA unless you also have an MBA or work your way up.

Don’t most MBAs go into Finance?

(that’s a question AND a declaration)

Britney Spears…

That depends. There are a number of concentrations in MBA programs now, from general management. marketing, entrepreneurship, supply chain management, branding, operations, real estate, etc.

There are a lot of people who get into finance out of undergrad without a business degree. MBA is for management in the end, higher up the foot chain type positions.
