They say small school when they mean small PROGRAM.

How is the program small? We have the same amount of scholarship players, last I checked.

I’d rather just be called a small school than a small time school.

The meaning is the same…it is defintely derogatory, unless you are a D2 or D3.

Derogatory maybe…but accurate.

Small=small profile=small talent pool

Whether we want to admit the lable…the characterization is based on the fact that the conference we play in is very small in terms of the amount of prospective NFL calibre talent and also in the lack of high level D1 competition we face week in and week out.

Maybe the choice of words could be different but the meaning of what’s at the heart of the lable is 100% accurate.

I disagree-----if they mean ā€œlower profileā€, then say ā€œlower profileā€. BTW, not sure if you’ve noticed, but we’ve had 4 NFL draft picks in the last 4 seasons…no, that doesn’t equal Alabama but it sure doesn’t equal Limestone College either…what would he call a player from Limestone?

Smaller program is the term I prefer and I think its correct. We are operating our athletics on a much smaller budget that the P5 schools. That’s reality and when we do see success it will be inspite of our limitations financially.

They should call them small budget programs.

But that would lead to a discussion of why their budgets are smaller… Which is why they won’t do it.

We’ve had 4 NFL draft picks!? Holy sh!t I had no idea! Thanks for telling me…now that changes everything!!

Have we been playing in New Years Day Bowl games and I’ve missed that too. Here I was making an argument that we are a new & struggling program that has had all of 1 winning season playing in one of the weakest football conferences in all of D1.

Jokes on me I guess!! I see how wrong I was…so sorry!

How dare they insult us like that…we’re a damn NFL factory bay-bee!!

In all seriousness…if you can’t understand that a player that plays for a 5-6 yr old program in CUSA isn’t typically facing the same athletes and same competition as schools in the Big 12, the Big 10, the PAC 10, the ACC, the SEC…hell even the Mountain West and the AAC…then I can’t help you.

Againā€¦ā€œsmall schoolā€ may not be a 100% accurate way of describing it…but it’s a quick and easy way to phrase something that most common sense people understand what it means.

May not be 100% accurate?? Haha…if you can’t see that it’s 100% inaccurate , then i can’t help you…and yes i know exactly why these guys use the term. It seems that YOU don’t quite understand it.

No you don’t…it was your stupid post about it in the first place that started the discussion because of your lack of understanding over why the term ā€œsmall schoolā€ is used.

You’re trying to argue over the symantics but the lable is true. I don’t understand how that can be hard to comprehend…even for a 10 year old.

I explained it…and did so clearly. If you need to, please re-read my posts again for further clarity since you’re still trying to argue with me over YOUR misunderstanding about why YOU’RE upset over us being called a small program…WHICH WE ARE!!!

I mean Jesus F’n Christ dude. The stupidity is absolutely astounding.

I honestly question why I keep coming back to the board and subjecting myself to this.

Whatever makes you feel good man I’ll go along with it if it makes you feel better…just please shut the f@#$ up.

I’m not surprised.

I think they refer to small in comparison to football factories and their mega$$$ conferences. It has nothing to do with enrollment in my opinion. I believe the nfl coaches and scouts would say the same about MAC football programs compared to SEC football factories. Our football program is a tiny infant compared to football ancient Alabama, as evidenced by our stadium and field-house. Its not an insult. We should be happy that Alex’s real performance and measurable production is bringing great publicity to our small school where the football program arrow is pointing up.

Alex better be working hard, because those coaches and tackles in the AFC North are sure to be studying his weaknesses much of his offseason. He needs to train a couple of weeks with the watt brothers
