If Major were to beat out those schools for this player…that alone would earn him another 2-3yrs around here regardless of what our record is next year.
pfffffft what are you smokin man?
I’m thinking he might be the next Bobcats head coach.
Will he give us a visit?
We should find out within the next week or so. He’s already met with UK, XU and Mizzou is coming up.
I’m not trying to be a downer but if he comes here I have to think it’s because those schools won’t afford him the PT he’ll get here. They’re all loaded with talent he’d have to compete with for PT, where as here he’d be an instant starter with all the minutes he wants.
Is he of the talent level that he’d be a guaranteed starter at UK for example?

UK I am not sure, because if they bring in a 1 and done, that 1 and done is probably guaranteed starting and a ton of minutes.
I would think Missouri could use all the help it can get inside, but if he wants to get touches that might not be the best place for him. Xavier makes sense, however I am not sure about the recruiting classes at Duke, UNC-CH, or Ohio State to know what kind of competition for playing time he will have.
I think that his best options are with Missouri, Xavier, or Charlotte. He’ll see the most minutes at these programs. Missouri may take a huge slide next season as their top 3 scorers are gone. I think he will choose Xavier over Missouri and Charlotte because it is his best chance to make the tourney in his senior season. I would like for him to choose Charlotte though.
Kentucky would possibly be the worst situation, but they just won the championship. Duke could have a nice spot for him if Plumlee leaves but they don’t have a track record of developing bigs or getting the ball inside. UNC will have possibly a starting spot open for him along side McAdoo but they have several others who are already in line. I don’t see him going to the Missouri to play, I hope Major can make him believe that we will be a contender and he will be a star here.
Not sure why Kentucky would be the worst situation. Their top 3 rebounders are all more than likely going pro. They do have one C already coming in. But they really need two of the new comers to start. If they also get Noel, then yes it’s probably not the best fit for Oriakhi. But IMO they’ll probably take the first to commit between Oriakhi and Noel. Not both of them.
Alex Oriakhi has listed his preliminary plans for his college visits. The Connecticut transfer will “definitely visit” North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, and Missouri while also listing Xavier, Ohio State, and UNC-Charlotte as potential visits. Outside of the UNC-Charlotte visit, which seems kind of random, the Ohio State visit becomes intriguing with the possibility that Oriakhi could potential step in to replace Sullinger. Clearly, Oriakhi is not quite the same caliber of player that Sullinger was at Ohio State, but he would be a nice bridge to the next dominant big man the Buckeyes want to bring in.
