Alonzo Gee - 2005

Alonzo Gee (Dwyer High School, Palm Geach Gardens, Fla.)- The 6-foot-6, 205-pound small forward is a good athlete with strength. What makes Gee special is his mid-range scoring ability off the dribble. He can also knock it down from behind the arc. Charlotte, Marshall, and West Virginia have already offered, with Charlotte being his favorite.

More info on him.

Other info lists his 3 favories now as Charlotte, Florida, South Florida. He is also ranked 3 stars by Blue Chip Hoop.s

Latest report from JJ at Ninerreport…we still lead. He is currently ranked #144 by Rivals.

Alonzo Gee Update - 6/7/04

According to Ninerreport, Gee and Marks will be visiting this weekend (6/12).

Sounds like a package deal here…all or none. I go with all since we have a connection with Leemire.

So if we land both, we would have 1 or 2(Iti) 'ships left for 05-06?

According to Gee, he learned a ton from the Niner camp and the Niners are on top, but he’s not sure when he’ll decide.

Alonzo Gee update - Ninerreport from 6/29/04

Gee is a MAJOR recruit for us. We lead, but Florida is trying to get in the mix.

Sounds like Gee is fishing a little bit to see if there are any other bigger names coming around (Florida,etc.). I think how he does and the reaction or buzz he creates at the Big Time Tourney in Vegas this summer will determine a lot for his future.

He is the type of player where we get in early and hope he does not “blow up” and get a lot of attention till we have him on the dotted line (Von Wafer).

Yeah Neo, but someone should let Gee know that Florida is also recruiting 6’6 SF Brian Asbury from South Miami, and reportedly want Asbury more. Gee is our #1 guy. He’ll get PT right away here.

Crud, I missed Asbury’s commitment. He’s already committed to Miami.

New Miami (FL) head coach Frank Haith gained his first committment for the class of 2005 in local talent Brian Asbury. Asbury hails from Miami, FL South.

According to sources close to Moxley and Lutz, they have not been this high on a kid since RODNEY WHITE!

Florida and Miami both got commitments recently from guys that play Gee’s spot. That coupled with the fact that Gee has been a PRIORITY should bode well for the 49ers.

The coaches are very, very excited about this kid.

I have seen Gee’s name on some Florida recruiting boards… Seems like they still think the Gators might make a push. Supposedly he is one of the high risers in this class. Hopefully Lutz and Co. can seal the deal. Is Marks part of the deal too? Whatever the case, based on what is being said, Gee looks to be the top target for 2005.

If this is so, Gee needs to examine what is going on with Florida's recruiting. They just got wings 6'4 Derwin Kitchens, 6'4 David Huertas and will probably ink 6'3 wing Eric Devendorf as well. All three of those guys are consensus top 75 players. That's a lot of competition for playing time, not counting the returnees.

Gee will have much more of an opportunity to play immediately if he comes here.

He is now being heavily recruited by: Alabama, Charlotte, Florida, Miami, South Florida and West Virginia.

Day Two from adidas National Championship

Alonzo Gee putting on a clinic from long-range

Tallahassee Wildcats shooting guard Alonzo Gee opened the morning with five 3-pointers on his way to a 25-point effort showing off his beautiful form well outside the arc. After his strong performance at the adidas Superstar Camp last week Gee has seen his recruitment reach a flurry with coaches from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Charlotte, Florida, Florida State and UAB attending both of his Friday showings. He continued his impressive shooting in the night cap while leading the Wildcats to the championship game to be played tomorrow at 1:20 p.m.

July 17 - from another site.

Mark Gottfried, Bobby Lutz and Robert McCullum watched Alonzo Gee in the nightcap. After the game, Gee listed Charlotte, Florida, UCLA, LSU, South Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Marshall, Alabama and West Virginia. …

Gee was named MVP of the Adidas Showtime Nationals Tourney and he led his team to the championship. He ended up averaging 19 a game. Looked like some pretty good talent at the tourney. Look for Gee’s profile to rise and with that the difficulty in getting a commitment. Hopefully the early inroads we have made will pay off.

Don’t have a good feeling with all these new teams jumping in, he seems to be listening to them, hopefully the early, all out recruiting of him will give us some kind of advantage, but with this list:

Charlotte, Florida, UCLA, LSU, South Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Marshall, Alabama and West Virginia

it’s gonna be a nervous ride for Bobby & Co. trying to get him to Charlotte…hopefully he will remove Florida after their recent signings, but if he keeps skyrocketting we might be in trouble(the start of this thread said it was a three team race, now he lists 10 teams as possibilities)…our best shot has to lie in the chance to play with Goldwire and Marks up here(hopefully we get Marks and hopefully Gee was good friends with both). but for Bobby to put him as the #1 target says a lot, wouldn’t be surprised to see him as a 4 star if he keeps improving, he would be the best freshman we would have signed since Iti, all very promising stuff, just keeping my fingers crossed that Goldwire puts in a good word or a thousand to him to help his decision a little bit…

Gee is having a great summer. Some might say he just blew up. We were on him early. Not sure how it will work out but he's another example of our coaching staff identifying big-time talent, early. We already got Goldwire, who had an incredible senior year, yet never made a big splash in the summers. Let's hope we get Gee too.
