Here’s to hoping a grad student transfer with a nice stroke wants to play close to home his last season…
Of course? Who knows. Maybe he feels like we have all the threat we need. Maybe he is okay with the threat we have now and would rather have slashers. Who knows. Not a lot of communication comes out from this staff and it is usually in the form of cliches and talking points. Their business though so who knows.
He obviously values shooters otherwise we wouldnt have benkovic.
Tricky call. Maybe he values non American white kids. USA USA USA
Are we debating whether we hope to get better/good recruits in? Isn’t that what you hope for for every class? To get the best possible players? Hoping for that doesn’t mean you think the current players are complete busts.
I don’t think it’s that simple. You can probably find jucos that are more likely to contribute right away than a true freshman. Does that make them the best possible player? Or would it be better to bring in a freshman, that isn’t as likely to contribute next year, but will likely be here 4 years and possibly develop into a better player by their junior and senior year? I lean toward the latter, unless there’s a major hole in the roster (like our center position, where there will be a bunch of open minutes even with Thorne playing or someone will be playing out of position). You could argue that the sg position has that same kind of need, but I think we have guys that could develop into better players already here, so it’s worth the risk they do and use the other scholarships to build for the future, build continuity into the program.
I do a little of each. grab 2 four year freshmen, a judo shooter who can help next year and a transfer that can contribute in 2014/15. we have a great base. we just need a little more offense.
A judo shooter would fit well with our physical style of play.
Heard this kid is one heck of a judo shooter.

VCU is recruiting him. He fits their style of play, though he’ll have to learn to do some better ninjarin if he’s going to get any PT.
