Seems like most years we start where we’re at this year. Right on the cusp but not quite in.

I know one thing though, we’re better than NC State and Duke being #11 is a crock.

mk,

you must remember that nc state plays in the acc. so naturally they are better than us.

I think you might be right about N.C. State. Duke, though only about six deep, will still be a load. Nobody else has a player like Shelden Williams, and Redick keeps other teams honest.

So I’ve been told. :cuss:

Hodge should be good this year, but I don’t see them as a real top 25 team, but in poll terms not that suprised.

I would tend to agree, but as much as we bitch about not getting any respect how do you think State fans feel. All they did was finish second in the ACC when they were picked to finish 5th or 6th. I hate watching them play, but you need to give them credit. They don't look like much on paper, but they get it done on the court.

NCSU could be decent this yr. I dont think we are any better than them nor they better than us. They have big question marks in the paint and they all need to stay healthy. I think their ranking is fair since they did finish 2nd last yr in the ACC. Hodge can take over games if he wants too, but he can also take them out of it. Their new pg Bethel should help Hodge a lot, but the key is for Atsur and Etimov to step it up… so far Etimov is recovering from minor knee surgery.

I still can’t believe the pack blew that game against Vandy in the NCAA!

in related news Dick Vitale picked chapel hill to win it all, which means they are certain not to given his history

I stopped worrying about preseason polls in any sport many many years ago.

I was at that game and NC State looked like garbage offensively. I don't see them doing that well this year, they did little to impress me during that game (then again, it was just one game).

Hey, we polled ahead of UAB. That’s a DAMN shame.

28th is not bad. We should be higher than NCSU and maybe Duke.

As much as I would love to play both of them and play out that scenerio on the court. We would be a 13 pt dog at Cameron and a 5 pt dog at home. We would be a 8 pt dog at State and probably a 3 pt dog at home. Hopefully we will have our chance against the ACC in the NCAA’s.

Duke is rated were they are because they have 3 all conference players in the best basketball conference in the country.

State finished number 2 in the best basketball conference in the country and they return the conference player of the year, 4 of 5 starters and have one the the top 15 recruiting classes in the nation coming in.

We’d whip State like it was the 2000 season all over again.

Duke I’m not sure. But, bring it, dont sing it!

Jimmyhat, we would beat State just like we did a few years ago. We would lose to Duke in Cameron but would beat them in Halton. We can’t match up with Wake’s guards. Not that it matters because those teams won’t play us anyway.

My statement was that State & Duke were overranked. I wasn’t trying to start an argument and I wasn’t trying to start a discussion about the ACC.

we would beat state like the red headed step children that they are

I too think that State is overrated, but I wouldn’t want Duke anytime, anywhere. They may be shallow, but don’t forget those top 6 are studs. Shavlick Randolph absolutely came alive last year and had it not been for a slew of attrocious calls probably would have carried Duke past UConn. Shelden Williams plays like a man among boys, and JJ is still the best pure shooter in the world. While PG is certainly going to be an issue for them, Sean Dockery is fiery, fiesty and plays tenacious defense. Not that we couldn’t hold our own against them, but I’m not gonna call a Mike Krysewski coached team overrated. As for NC State, we’d beat those pansies anytime, anywhere.
