App at Michigan
At what point does the App win at Michigan become less ā€œspecialā€?

I was watching the game with some family and we were excited for App…but we also kept in mind that Michigan sucks. After they got throttled my Oregon…It cemented it for me a little more.

If App gets torched by a very bad Notre Dame team this weekend, does the App win lose a little luster?
no. ever walked into a crowd of 110k yelling at you? At one of the most famous arenas? Its intimidating as hell and I don’t care how bad Michigan is, for a 1AA to overcome the crowd, history, legacy, and initimidation factor is phenomenal and can never be less special. are you really serious?

(btw whats up with that font?)

I have no clue what is going on with the font. It seems to change at random here recently.

I know the big house is a huge home field advantage. I just am beggining to think that this isnt the ā€œmonumentalā€ upset people thought it was before.

App is good…real good. They would take it to almost any 1A school. Michigan is bad. Real Bad. They are gonna really struggle all season.

Its still a great win for App…no doubt. But if Michigan gets nailed again this weekend by a horrible Notre Dame team, and continues to struggle, its gonna make the win look less impressive imo

When was the last time you saw this kind of school spirt at Charlotte?

This is a consideration however football teams run on emotion more than almost any other sport, app crushed their hopes for a national title in the first game of the season, kind of taking away purpose. No excuse for the oregon beatdown but then Henne went down. Michigan has a ton of all-americans and for a program like that, no shot at a national title is a failure of a season and their coach is a dead man walking, in job only of course. They played hard against App state and the next game and maybe the rest of the season were deflated.

good point
not to mention, if you are a mega power like Michigan and a 1AA team comes into your living room and punches you in the nose, you begin to question your ability for a big opponent like Oregon.

Question. Had you rather play football in D1 or be like App and play in D1AA FOREVER? Being locked into D1AA for an eternity is the only way we will ever duplicate App’s feet once we eventually get football. App gained noteriety because they are now known as a big fish in a mud puddle.

It’s imperative that we are ready to jump to D1 as soon as we get the chance after we get football.

Trying to get into a BCS league has got to be the goal, so that would mean D1. Yes App’s win brought them a lot of notoriety but at the end of day it doesn’t mean a lot because they are still D1AA.

yep, USF is in a much more enviable position than Appy

BINGO. That’s the point I was trying to make. I’ll take USF’s win against Auburn over ASU’s win against Michigan. Simply because USF is now big-time and App is still rinky-dink.
