Emeke Erege reference is the win of this thread.
We have a trophy that we compete over. That makes it a rivalry. Not necessarily.
But if we're not playing them, then it's not really worthwhile to talk smack to them.Agree 100%. They're not worthy.
We need a real rivalry to look forward to every year. What program is better to hate then those private school yanks of Davidson. so we need to do what we can to get it back on track and do some ole fashison Sh*t talking. so here is the address to their sports forum.http://www.davidsoncats.com/index.php
what is funny is these pompous F*gs talk as if they should be playing duke, chapel hill, or ncst every year like they deserve to be in the acc.
I would love nothing more to be a rivial to Chapel *** or duke or NCST but we have to realize that the history isnât there and they arenât 15mins away.I personally proprose if we donât schedule a game with them that we show up as many as possible deep to their senior day and chant We are Charlotte or something on those terms to let them know they ainât worth Sh*t
you should learn the definition of rivalry
we are approx 27-9 vs them
your idea sucks

Agreed, why waste our time on an athletic program who has an undeserving sense of accomplishment? Davidson isnât a rival. We are better off using that spot to schedule a Clemson or Louisville. Look at the respect Gonzaga gets for their non-conference schedule and tell me why we shouldnât strive to do that every year?
We should start back up with Cincy- closest thing weâve had to a rivalry in a few years and they are trying to rebuild as well. Maybe we can come back together.
Some people in this thread seem to think we can just âstart a rivalryâ with any team we want.
Rivalries are developed through tough games and animosity, not because we think a team would make a good rival.
We also canât just schedule a Clemson or a Louisville and expect it to be a 1-for-1 deal without special circumstances (i.e. Bobcats arena), the typical deal for ârivals.â The Clemson series was not the norm.

Exactly why I bring up Cincy

Everyone here knows we canât just âstart a rivalryâ. My logic is schedule the best team possible no matter what the circumstances. It will ALWAYS work out better in the end. I would rather play a Louisville at their place and one downtown at the Cable Box, over playing Davidson home and home for two years.

You can lump Cincy in with Louisville and all other BCS schools. We probably wonât get a 1-for-1 that comes to Halton.
If Cincy wanted to continue the rivalry, we would still be playing. I gaurantee Charlotte didnât call for its end.
the Cincy thing was wicked and venemous because we were GOOD, and they did not like us bucking up to them in âtheirâ so called conference.
we need to win, then win some more, then hopefully some classless team in the A10 tries to steal our bike out of our yard.

Donât be so quick to sell Halton short. The home/away games for BCS schools may be skewed heavily towards games in their own courts, but they gotta play at least some road games somewhere (unless youâre Syracuse)
Cincy played at UAB, recently. Our arena is certainly comparable.

But that was when they good as well- theyâve hit hard times lately like us and also like us, arenât in a bargaining postion to demand much.

That would be my hope- we get our sh!t together and beat X and a fight breaks out b/c they are #7 in the nation or something and weâre in the top 25.
Then it can get ugly and the old school guys will be able to stick our chests out again.

Metro is 1000% right. Cincy was nasty. I donât care how much we hate Davidson, ESPN, Nessler and Dickie V arenât showing up for Charlotte-Davidson. They showed up for Charlotte-Cincy because we were good and Cincy was good and it almost always was a great game that got a little nasty.
Now that I find myself agreeing with Metro, I believe that I will take this opportunity to get myself right with the Lord.

who can fill that role?
After the disrespect shown our program in trying to schedule them last year, we should NEVER and I repeat NEVER allow our team to play in Belk arena again. I for one will NEVER attend another game at Davidson. If the Chancellor forces the issue and makes Judy schedule them, she should have the freedom to only agree to games in Halton Arena. If they choose not to come to Halton, then no game!
I would be all for scheduling Cincinnati again. I think that we could get Memphis too. You guys are right in that rivalries develop from what happens in games, and over time. Maybe Xavier will end up being a rival then?
Iâd love for Xavier to develop into a rivalry (or with any other A10 team for that matter). But that will be almost impossible as long as you have an unbalanced schedule where you are playing a team one time in most seasons.
When do I ever say that?
Itâs Duck Favidson.
I proclaim UCLA our next rival. Some of you think itâs that easy.
