They are the next Alabama and the are located in 4 TV markets. Alum Eric Church will sweep the Grammys and CMAs this year. They put about 50K in a 30K stadium. They will change the face of the Sun Belt but have no invite.
I swear I never had much of an opinion of App St. until I had to deal with some of their fans. Not only are they arrogant beyond belief, they think they are the best school in the state, and they are purely delusional, but they can be downright vicious. The other thing I love is how (not just with us, but with many schools) they will slam the school and talk smack but then point fingers at the other school’s fanbase as having started it. I know a few app grads and, besides pulling for UNC-CHeat in basketball, they are smart and capable people. Some of their sports fans, etc., are the worst I’ve ever had to interact with (especially of those schools without a national profile, like a Maryland or WVU). I wish they would change that about their fanbase because it would be nice to have some sort of intelligent sports discussion/camaraderie with another nearby fanbase, but they’ve nearly ruined any chance of that happening.
Who are these fans that constantly yell obscenities for no reason and surround the cars of opposing fans making it hard for them to leave?
They don’t exist.
Someone probably booed at them for wearing App State gear and the myth grew from there.
If you look at what any of our conference mates fans have said about visiting Halton, they’ve all said the fans were always very friendly.
App and Davidson are the only two fanbases I’ve ever seen that claim we have roaming herds of fans that make life hell for visiting fans.

I have always considered App a borderline community college. My experiences with their alumni has done little to dissuade me from my current perspective.
I just think its funny that that thread, about us, has been their most active thread on that website (its now the “main” App borad) for the last 3 days. Obsess much?
Of all the things that have never happened, this is one of things that has never happened the most.
Sorry guys, it’s me. I get drunk before, during, and after games. I become overrun with all kinds of excitement, but equal parts apprehension towards opposing fan bases. I not only surround their cars, banging on their hood, but I’m known to leave excrement on the hoods of their cars, chalk in a handicap parking decal on their spot so they’re towed, and on occasion switching their tire valve caps with the cars next to theirs. I know, horrible, horrible stuff. Good thing I moved. It’s just that App hasn’t been back since my move so all they ever remember is getting home and finding Michelin logos on their Goodyear tires.
No, we just need to keep putting distance between ourselves and them. Worry about ourselves and that won’t be a problem.
I agree about distancing ourselves (we already have), but it never hurts to present the facts to the misguided. That is better than arguing with them. Just show them the facts and quietly slip away.
