I had no idea college football stadiums could serve beer if they wanted to.
Make this happen at Charlotte.

I think itās a N.C. thing.
Yeah, the laws vary by state. Also, schools are much more likely to serve beer at games if the stadium is off campus.
Is football different than basketball? I thought the NCAA had decreed that alcohol could not be sold on campus. That is why a school like Louisville has alcohol at their games, but most school so not. I may be way off though.
Yep, if the stadium were off campus we would have some flexiblilty. I remember NC State debating on whether to serve alcohol atteh RBC Center since they were serving it for Hurricanes games.
Here is the policy:

D. State law prohibits the Sale of any Alcoholic Beverage on the University campus by any person, organization, or corporation on the campus of the University. (N.C.G.S. 18B-301(f))
NWA, I remember hearing that too. Something about the NCAA not allowing schools to serve alcohol at their stadiums or something. That explains why we can drink at TWC.
I know that it canāt be state law to allow the serving of alcohol on campus though. Has to be an NCAA or sports only thing.

Unless I missed something in the provisions, or there is some case law that expounds upon it, I donāt see how 18B-301(f) would modify it.
The NCAA āstrongly discouragesā the sell of alcohol at member sporting events. Itās not a requirement though or else weād not like the uptown games so much! The State of North Carolina on the otherhand , very much has banned alcohol sells on campus at sporting events.
clt recommends that we PROVIDE four loko!!
NC State Law forbids alcohol at arenas on campus.
Maybe we should get Tar Hole Alums to use their influence in the NCGA to change the law.
Iām sure there are liabilities involved with allowing alcohol sales on campus but with the budget cuts in the UNC system any possible new revenue streams should be considered. Even if that means requiring the athletic department split profits from alcohol sales with the general education fund.

They serve alcohol on campus at Queens.
We serve alcohol on campus, we donāt sell it at athletic events though. Iām also not sure its a state law as Duke has a bar on campus. I think its just a UNC System rule.
As I understand it, it is a state law regarding only state-supported Universities. Therefore, private schools in NC are not affected.
If you ID, then it would seem that should alleviate your liability.
Oh, & the State of NC is a hypocrit to regulate what happens at state-supported athletic events when the state doesnāt PAY for athletics! (Unless youāre CH or State, & weāre not.) I say the school is public, but the AD Office is private.
Apologies, since we were discussing serving alcohol I meant serving as in it is sold on campus.
We had a bar on campus in the mid-90s, that sold beer. It was in the CAB. Failed miserably. Kind of surprised me. The RDH had a bar like set up in itās basement. But I donāt think it ever served alcohol while I was on campus.
There are bars in Joel coliseum that sell beer to Deacon Club members before and during Wake games. The catch is the beer cannot be taken into the main coccourse/seating area.
