Bernard Thompson - 2011 G/F

6’5 wing player from Rockdale County in GA. Plays along side Kevin Ware, 4* SG that’s committed to UT, so I think he could be overshadowed. Not much on him via the recruiting sites, only ESPN has a profile and it hasn’t been update. From reading up, sounds like a solid prospect, not sure what he does for travel ball. If you don’t play much AAU, you aren’t noticed, see Terrence Williams.

Have we offered?

Was 8-AAAA All Region last year for Rockdale

Bernard Thompson (2011) 6-foot-2 SG Rockdale County (Uncommitted). Thompson is a mid-major dream. His is an athletic guard that can score in the paint. He is an effective three point shooter, has great body control and hang-time when he attacks the basket. He finished with 23 points, 17 in the second half.

Dropped 26 on Miller Grove, on the the top HS teams in the nation

Love what you are doing with the recruiting forum, after saying that, do you only post a player that we have offered, interested in? Or just anyone?

Looks like a kid that has potential, but I wish there were more info. Love to have more 6’5" guards/wings!

I talked to a guy that’s in on the GA scene today and he mentioned he talked with our staff today about Thompson.

looks like he plays baseball too, not sure how good he is.

Playing in the 9th annual Chik-fil-a classic in Blythewood, SC, bracket 2. EVN and Braxton Obugeze’s teams are in Bracket 1.

Rockdale gets the W in their first game of the tourney

Rockdale gets the win, Ware played well but his running mate 6’4 Benard Thompson shut it down… Poster style.

a scouts breakdown of Thompson

long, athletic, really solid handle - I’ll get you more detail on his game after I see him Weds & Thurs

Had 18 pts, 5 rebs and 5 assists tonight on 7-13 shooting.

After signing Williams and E Vic are we still looking at this kid? Seems we have bigger issues at PF/C and PG.

Pretty sure we are right now. Might be a SF to be with EVN. You can tell we are going after guys that will be able to defend multiple positions.

6'4 SG Bernard Thompson of Rockdale Co (GA) is an emerging sleeper that should continue to see his stock rise. Scored 18pts vs Norland (FL)

So we are looking for any 6-5 to 6-8 basetkball player that can defend, shoot and handle… I LIKE IT!!!

Me too, sounds a lot like the GW team back in 05-06, the one that just rolled out 1 athletic lengthy guy after another.

Temple always seems to have a bunch of players in the 6’3"-6’6" that can guard, shoot, dribble, and play D. I like at least the type of player we are chasing. Majors seems to have a good idea of type of player he wants.

We are going after guys that are athletic and can defend multiple positions on the floor.

I give Major a lot of credit for having an obvious style he is recruiting. I don’t think Lutz was as clueless of a recruiter as a lot of people seem to think, but his targets seemed to be 1) lights-out 3 point shooter and 2) best available. Good to see Major has a style he wants and also isn’t afraid to recruit multiple players with apparently similar skill sets, if these guys can play, they will get the PT.
