Best 49er 3pt Shooter

The Dunk Contest Seemed to be no competition ( at least for now) so let’s see what you think about some of the great niner 3pt shooters. Same rules post your favorite, then it might take a poll to solve this one.

Jobey. ( http://www.nba.com/draft2002/profiles/jobey_thomas.html )

JOBEY THOMAS

then…

henry williams

demon mutha truckin brown

plavvy plav

Diego 911 Guevara

Henry Williams. Hands down. MONEY!!!

This should be as much of a runaway as the “Dunk” thread.

Henry…and again, it’s not even close.

For those that never saw him, he was simply the most complete player I’ve personally ever seen in Niner Green. His shooting ability was absolutely PURE. He was our ONLY weapon…teams knew it…and tried to stop him but he still scored at will. Amazing to see a guard be able to do that.

His shooting brought the defense out. He was quick and could penetrate at will. He saw the floor and could dish or score. He was also a great on the ball defender. He was/is the Michael Jordan of our program.

But it all started because of his deep and consistent shooting ability.

Three point PLAYER, Williams.

Three point SHOOTER, Plav

I can’t say Williams since I never saw him play. I would say between Jobey, Demon, and Plavich, Plavich because of his range. Consistancy would go to Jobey though.

Henry Williams is my pick. Unlike some of our other great shooters, Henry did not have to get a pick or screen to get his shot off. He could elevate and shoot over a defender that had a hand in his face.

Henry seemed to shoot even better on the road.

During his career, Henry did have to play home games at the old Coliseum (the one off Tyvola). He did struggle some in that building but so did a lot of other players.

Sounds like someone else we all know… :hammer:

Moss2k is definitely the best long range bomber in charlotte history.

No need to add more. Henry single-handedly won games without a good supporting cast.

Most complete 3-point player - Henry
Best pure shooter - Jobey
Best clutch 3-point shooter - Diego - The kisses were awesome!

Honorable mention - Plav, Marlon Thomas (didn’t he have a few big threes in one of the big Cincy games?), Trigger Terrel, Rod Howard

The Dunk Contest Seemed to be no competition .

And this one is no more competitive if you’ve been watching Niner ball for some time.

Henry in a landslide

I think you’re thinking of James Zimmerman

Hands down Jobey Thomas

Who is the record holder? Broke Henry’s records. Demon took one of his, but if Jobey would have taken double digit attempts every game I wonder what he would have done.

Best stroke = Dee Tolliver
Best Game shooter = Jobey Thomas

  1. Henry - hit the shots during crunch time
  2. Tie: Plav - won a lot of games, at Indiana, at Syracuse was probably one of best 49er performances of all time. Jobey - of course
  3. Diego, Terrell (only 2 years here but could shoot)

Best long range 3’s: Rod Howard and Plav. Both these guys needed to be guarded once they came past the half court line.

Best single game performances: Plavich - Indiana, Syracuse, Davidson
Most incredible single game performance: Benny Moss
Best 3-point specialist: Jobey Thomas
THE BEST: Henry Williams

If we had 3 pointers in the 70’s, Lew Massey would be toward the top of that list. It seemed he seldom missed from what is now 3 point territory.
