Good album… it was released in early 2007 though.

You’re such a Mac fanboy. I love you Dax.
The Whigs - mission control.
Released Jan 22. and they had an appearance on Letterman.
They are awesome and everyone should take a listen and whenever they come back to charlotte, you should go see them.
Also, The Sammies (IMO, the best Charlotte band around right now) have a new CD coming out this year, not sure when but I think sometime during the late spring/ early summer. Check them out

The Raconteurs, Vampire Weekend, Mars Volta and (OMG I’ll probably get killed for this but here it goes anyway) Jack Johnson’s new stuff is all very good imo.

Jack Johnson’s new one is really good. Although it doesnt elicit the same type of chill out and drink beer on the beach vibe as his last album, In Between Dreams.
Panic At The Disco’s new cd, in my opinion is a catastrophic failure
Death Cab’s new one comes out in May and they’ve never made a bad record…this one is said to make them extremely famous or kill their careers
OAR has a new one of this year too, and they usually don’t disappoint
This cd didnt come out in 08, but pick up Evan Bliss & The Welchers…jam band/ frat-rockesque kind of band, best cd i bought all of last year
I haven’t heard anything yet this year that blows my hair back. The Raconteurs album is okay, but really not my style. I like it a little better than the last one, but my favorite songs are on the last one too.
The Whigs are a great band for what they are, but too straight ahead for me.
Vampire Weekend’s album really isnt very good. It’s a case of them being 10 times better as a live act. The album itself bores me. I’d rather not hear APunk again, thanks.
I’m sorry, but I just cant listen to crap like Jason Mraz, OAR, Panic whatever, etc.
I don’t have the new Jack Johnson, but I’ll probably get it. I do like him for background, chill out music.
On my to check out list, and some of this stuff is old already, but I’m behind:
She & Him - Volume One
Be Your Own Pet - Get Awkward
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig!! Lazarus Dig!!
Beach House - (I forget the name of the record)
I’m pretty sure I’ll like the M.Ward/Zoey D. duo. That’s right up my alley.
I don’t understand why Hot Chip is so liked. The songs alternate between annoying and catchy. I problem just need to listen more.
I’m still too busy listening to older stuff like Kings of Leon. I have just about worn out my copy of Because of the Times lately. They’re such a quirky band. I can easily see people running hot/cold on them.
Jack Johson sucks…
I’m sorry, it had to be said.

I just caught Kings of Leon on an episode of Austin City Limits or whatever that show is on PBS. I just cant imagine anyone listening to their last record and not getting hooked.
I also just had to order another copy of SSPU’s Pikul cause my daughter murdered my last one. I’ve been listening to it endlessly too, even though it came out 3 yrs ago.
I have the ACL performance on my HDDVR box. Gotta say - not a fan. I didn’t like their set list. I like their hookier stuff, and they avoided most of it for the broadcast. I betcha the actual show was killer though.
Here was the setlist:

Taper Jean Girl

King of the Rodeo

My Party

Molly’s Chambers

The Bucket

Four Kicks

On Call
No California Waiting or Knocked Up. Darnit. Good video of On Call here-> Link
The Black Keys “Attack & Release” is the only really good album I’ve heard this year.
NIN-Ghosts is the only album i’ve bought this year I believe.
NIN is great, but Ghosts isn’t their (his) best work. It’s worth a listen, but probably not worth owning, imo.

It’s alright…I ordered the actual cd so I should be getting that pretty soon. I downloaded the album already off a torrent site though.
Counting Crows
Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings
First album in 6 years

LOL, I believe I was busy buying this one while you were typing this. The first listen was solid. Looking forward to the next.
