Its my favorite album of the year so far.
I listened to it on repeat all day at work today, I’m quickly coming to the same conclusion. I was expecting/hoping Lisztomania, 1901 and then 8 different variations of the same theme, but what they actually did is much better.

I still need to hear the new Grizzly Bear.
What I’ve heard of it isnt bad. But the rocker/pop record is always going to win out (for me) just for being more fun.

I’m usually the same way, especially this time of year, you have to have something to blast in the car right now. But I’m still hopeful for Grizzly Bear, everybody seems to be in love with that album.
Oh crap… I dont know how I missed this, and I dont know where to put this, but very very sad news:

He’s been in the news lately for filing a lawsuit against his former Wilco bandmates and the label for unpaid royalties.
He had a hand in many of my favorite Wilco songs (Link: See a List). Ridiculously talented musician that could play anything you put in front of him, and play it very well.
There’s a whisper
I would like to breathe into your ear but
I’m too scared to
Get that close to you right now
There are dreams we might have shared and
I still care and I still love you
But you know how
I’ve been untrue
In the beginning we closed our eyes
Whenever we kissed
We were surprised to
Find so much inside
RIP Jay. :weep:

Just heard the new Modest Mouse single… not bad. I assume there will be a forthcoming album, but I haven’t been able to find any info on it. Anyone know?
I am a bit biased since I am not a big fan of Eminem, but as a fan of hip hop that album in my opinion is absolute garbage. Eminem has just become a tired gimmick, spouting out pop culture references and his mom doing drugs, expecting it to be edgy everytime, but it isn't. And don't even get me started on the stupid voices he uses. If you wan't to hear Eminem at his greatest, download the track "Any Man" from the Rawkus Records' Soundbombing 2 mixtape, that track is incredible.
Relapse deserves a listen, I feel like it is some of the best rhyming by any rapper. Content is what you’d expect, but the flow is definitely what struck me the most.

Oh, trust me, I heard it a couple of times, garbage.
He opened up the Unity Tour for 311 in 2007. He kills live.
It’s funny, a lot of people won’t listen to Christian music, but they don’t mind Matisyahu whose music is extremely religious. Kind of a double standard. But hey, he is incredible.

I only know a couple of his songs, and the difference is that his songs dont suck.
I can count the number of Christian songs I’ve heard that don’t suck on one hand. Jars of Clay comes to mind.
there are two types of artists in pop music: the not pretty people who make very good music of great substance, and the whores playing the lowest common denominator game. Pretty much all christian artists fall into neither category.
