I only know a couple of his songs, and the difference is that his songs dont suck.

I can count the number of Christian songs I’ve heard that don’t suck on one hand. Jars of Clay comes to mind.

there are two types of artists in pop music: the not pretty people who make very good music of great substance, and the whores playing the lowest common denominator game. Pretty much all christian artists fall into neither category.
I’m not a big fan of christian music myself because I feel they use a lot of synthesizers but at the same time some songs and bands are very good and even get regular airplay on mainstream stations. Music is all personal taste anyway.

Oh, you don’t like synth, okay in that case:

I know they used to play shows with MxPx. What do they sound like? Also, has anyone heard the new Rancid cd?

Absolutely nothing like MxPx.

not an album, but looks very good!
It’s funny, a lot of people won’t listen to Christian music, but they don’t mind Matisyahu whose music is extremely religious. Kind of a double standard. But hey, he is incredible.
Not a fan. I respect that he is a very good beat boxer, but actually I think it’s pretty crappy reggae.

Such a great track. I like God & Suicide too. :shades:

Polvo is back from nowhere and they have a new one due out in a couple months. http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/11335-beggars-bowl/

Polvo, Merge’s old flagship, is to play this year’s Merge Fest, which is sold out. Might they unexpectedly steal the festival like they did like 20 years ago?

Check out the sick Merge XX lineup: http://www.mergerecords.com/xxmerge/

Sold out, I hope they netcast it.

I am liking Delta Spirit more and more with each listen.

New Decemberists CD!

Chickenfoot! Not a bad album, interesting to hear Satriani play with a real band rather than solo work.

New Alice in Chains album due in Sept… 1st song is posted on their site.

New singer William Duval is like a combo of Staley and the singer from Kings X IMO…

Evans Blue new CD is pretty good even though its not the same lead singer.

New Decemberists CD!
I liked.
I liked.
Wouldnt have pictured you as a Decemberists fan. Thats kinda cool I guess.

Colin Meloy’s Accent? Diction? Enunciation? gets on my nerves.

Has anyone else bothered to click on either of my links to this band? I imagine that most people dont bother. Just wondering if i made any converts, since I seemed to have had some very modest success with Phoenix.

They’re not the greatest band ever… but there’s something promising there. Can’t put my finger on it.

Plus there seems to be a stylistic swing in the that direction in the indie genre, especially the raw vocals. Lotsa bands like Deer Tick getting some pub.

I did. I really enjoyed it.

I know this is gonna sound really vague, but they sound like someone else and I cant put my finger on it and its driving me crazy.

as a side note: The first half of the year has been really underwhelming for me as far as new music goes. Not much has really grabbed my attention
