I think if Cox wasnât from Charlotte and if Atkins hadnât previously coached the 49ers, theyâre names would not get mentioned.
Thatâs fair. Sometimes we stretch lists to include candidates that have a connection to the city or program. I would be ok with either but donât think weâll go that route, especially with the show cause lingering.
Just glad he has a football home again. 
The next coach will be Kerwin Bell. Most likely announced this week. His teams score a lot of points, but his defenses allow a lot of points. Donât be surprised if he brings along QB Cole Gonzales, injured his hip in the Mercer game and has been rehabbing at home in Florida, his Dad is an assistant coach at Florida. This is almost a guaranteed done deal!

I was hoping for a Lance Leipold or Chris Klieman type of coach. Bell is the closest to that mold of the coaches available.
On everything I have quickly read, I do not see anything to get excited about. Big level of difference in the competition he is used to coaching against and he has only been slightly competitive at WC.
I am not sure about that. He has won a national championship at Valdosta and had an undefeated season. I get what you are saying and he is older than preferred but I see potential. WCU is underfunded and a tough place to win. We are too. No need to get too bent out of shape or excited yet but we could hire a rich high school coach again. Initial reaction is the same as above, I donât love but donât hate it.

As the father of fairly recent WCU grad, can definitely attest to âUNC Cullowheeâ being underfunded and a tough place to win. Has produced some notable sports alums - Kevin Martin (NBA), Brad Hoover (NFL), and Greg Holland (MLB) - but theyâre pretty rare. Beautiful campus, good academics, etc but you better like being out in the middle of nowhere.
I had only read what he had done at WC and that just didnât impress me. Hell, I initially liked the Poggi hire, so what do I know 
If it makes you feel any better I donât know squat either but makes for interesting conversation. I just want us to win. Our fans deserve that. I hope our next coach gets us there.
Need a coach that knows ball and can develop players. We arenât going to recruit a batch of 4 & 5 stars. Army and Navy are doing rather well this year following this model.
Can he get his son to come too as OC and Associate head coach? I could get excited about that.
