That is a great name. Just sounds like he would be good

playing in Lewisville tonight: http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1056131

Daniels and the Holy Rams (18-8) face Wilson (N.C.) Greenfield School(24-10) at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Lewisville (N.C.) Forsyth Country Dayin the NCISAA 1A state tournament quarterfinals.

I would assume we want him as a SG. We already have 3 scholarship players for 2011 who can play the PG spot… and Parks who I think will be a decent enough backup. We need a SG, a SF and a C, our PG position is set for the next couple of years, the only PG I want to go after is Tyler Lewis.

SG would be my thoughts too. Right now he’s primarily just an athlete. His shot doesn’t look good, and takes questionable shots.

scout.com update

Bishop Daniels, SG, CP3: If you haven’t seen Daniels in a while, the next time you see him you may be surprised. A highlight seeking dunker in the past, his game is in the process of maturing. Daniels took a look at himself and reasoned that he wasn’t improving at getting it done with his old game. He adopted the mantra “no cameras” and set about making the basic plays. He’s a talented athlete and a very good jump shooter.

He sounds like a real promising player. Hopefully we recruit hard enough and land him.

from reading that update, it’s obvious that Daniels has work hard on expanding his game. He was primarily and high flyer, but looks like he’s became a “very good jump shooter.”

Absolutely.

And we now have a serious need at both guard spots (contrary to that Feb post). We have at least 20-25 minutes of guaranteed PT. We only have 2 scholarship guards.

Lotta notes on this guy… good read:

April, 2010: Daniels is a bouncy combo guard who is equally as comfortable coming off screens or creating his very own scoring opportunities. His shooting range is limitless and when he is hot defenders beware. Has exceptional handles and keeps the ball out in front giving him the ability to get anywhere with his excessive quickness and athletic burst. Defensively Daniels has the foot speed to guard a top notch point guard or a quick ball-handling two. He will poke the ball away if you are not aware of his presence and score in thrilling fashion on the other end of the floor.

February, 2010: Daniels was phenomenal scoring the basketball throughout the day (Carolina Challenge) as he led all players with a 21.7 average over three games. It is evident that he has worked hard on improving his perimeter consistency; he is a high flying athlete that combines the ability of a spectacular finisher at the rim and a pure shooter from the 3-point line. If he continues this level of play he will be a hot commodity as a high level shooting guard.

July, 2009: Daniels has electric athleticism, which he uses to make highlight-reel worthy plays on a regular basis. He possesses incredible leaping ability and can easily finish off plays above the rim with emphatic dunks. His hops will allow him to man the weak-side and catch designed alley-oops and finish with dunks. He loves to get out in the open court and use his quickness to make plays in transition. Though he will connect on the occasional 3-point shot resulting from receiving the ball from a penetrating guard, he needs to continue to work on the consistency level from the perimeter. He really excels on the defensive end, using his very impressive lateral quickness to harass opposing ball-handlers. He does get job of getting chest to chest with the opposing ball-handler, often resulting in turnovers and frustration.

April, 2009: This young point guard is smooth in the open court where he consistently makes good decisions. He has a strong handle and is a good passer in traffic. Daniels seems to always be under control as well. He has a sweet pull up jumper with a smooth release and follow through. Daniels has excellent size and is athletic. He excels in transition and has the ability to run the team in the half court. He can drive, draw and kick and find the open man with ease. He plays on ball defense with urgency and plays with great pace. Daniels competes on both ends of the floor and his future is bright with steady improvement. One to watch develop into a star.

December, 2008: Bishop is an athletic and raw combo guard. He is a solid scorer with the ability to slash to the basket and finish, hit pull up jumper or shoot with range to 20 feet. He definitely needs to improve his consistency. He is very athletic and can finish above the rim. He is good in transition and can score or create. Defensively he has solid tools but needs to show more effort on that end of the court. He has good potential but needs to become more productive.

ranked #133 by Rivals in their latest top 150.

I think this is a new one that we are recruiting for 2011.

Georgetown and South Carolina are currently his 2 favorites

This was brought to my attention, he mentions Charlotte, but we are the last team he mentions. Kid looks like he has some serious athleticism.

We’re gonna mess around and lose out on this kid.

what do you mean?

what do you mean?
It means he doesn’t think we are making a hard enough push for Daniels. Daniels has stated he will select his school of choice at the end of summer.

we are in his top 5 and have offered - http://blog.northstarbball.com/2010/05/30/daniels-has-the-canes-in-top-five.aspx

Daniels listed South Carolina, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Miami, and Charlotte as his top five, with the Gamecocks and Hoyas leading the way.
