BP

There you go guys, kiss and make up

As an outsider I do think Plavich opened so much up for you guys on offense. That kid is a machine. Coming into this game the two scariest players, as a fan, that State has played is Redick and Justin Gray. You can add Plavich to that list after today. He will be dearly missed if Lutz stays and continues with his style of coaching.
However, if he changes his views and decides to utilize every players strength’s and not just let them act like the games are played on a playground Charlotte can have a better season next year. If he leaves and a new coach comes in a see’s the talent he has and plays to it’s strength then you guys will be alright.

Add Pack Attack to the list of fans who are happy as hell that Curtis Withers only gets about five plays run for him in a game.

As a direct result of the fact that Vanderbilt's coach would have yanked him early and often for thirty footers seven seconds into the shot clock. He waited for the inside game to bog down, then took good looks from 23' and in.

I’ll never forget the Cincy fans after the 04 game telling Withers to pass on thanks to Plavich for continuing to shoot and not giving the ball to Curt.

Curtis Withers was a turnover machine yesterday. He possibly cost us the game down the stretch yesterday, though I never wanted to say it.

Stop deifying some players and scapegoating others. I’m sick of the immaturity.

This from a guy who put a red X over Lutz a couple of years ago.

And I will admit Curt’s hands are the only reason the kid will play college ball for 4 years. How he can make a Larry Bird touch pass on a fast break but fumble a soft pass thrown to him down low is beyond me.

How bout we quit having the same damn argument about Plav that’s been going on all year?

News flash, he’ll never step on the court again in a Niner uniform.

Move on.

Part of it was Curt was getting mugged. The other part was he had to go quicker than he wanted due to the constant doulbe teams. I’ll give Herb credit he was going to make Mitch and EJ score. They couldn’t.

As i recall BP destroyed Cincy about everytime!!

If Withers leaves do we even have a post player next season?

Plavich vs. Cincinnati:

1/31/04 5-13 fg

2/28/04 4-14

1/19/05 6-15

2/5/05 8-19

Total: 23-61 37.7%

ā€œDestroyedā€, not exactly. Average, for him.

To be totally HONEST one should look at the top 3 in scoring to get a picture of how well BP’s numbers hold up against Cincinnati.

(1-31-04, 2-28-04, 1-19-05, 2-5-05)

Plavich averaged 38.3% and 19.8 ppg.

Withers averaged 37.5% and 14.0 ppg.

Basden averaged 42.9% and 14.0 ppg.

BP was second in scoring % BUT FIRST in points by a large margin.

AND if just the 2005 games are used Plavich’s numbers are even BETTER in comparison.

(1-19-05, 2-5-05)

Plavich averaged 41.1% and 24.0 ppg.

Withers averaged 28.6% and 12.5 ppg.

Basden averaged 38.5% and 16.5 ppg.

Comparing Redick and Plavich is TOTALLY unfair.
Wonder how many MORE points per game Plavich could have had if he had the Duke team setting screens for him like they do Redick?
About 10 MORE ppg.

When are you guys going to leave BP alone. Probably never. He is only one of 5 players on the floor. He is gone, so quit bitching about him. Yeah he only went 5 for 10 the other day, but his five are worth 1 and1/2 time everyone elses 2’s. Get off his rear end, the guy is finished at Char. Look at someone else to pick on next year all you armchair coaches.

It's a message board for discussing 49er hoops and expressing opinions. Shut it.

I love Plavich but his shot selection bugged me. I support attacking the coaching staff for his shot selection. Some people did take it too far attacking him. He's gone though and he will get a break from taking a beating by some people and we won't have to shake our head at his shot selection.

We had many problems in the 2nd half yesterday, but BP was not one of them. He didn’t get a clean look after 5 minutes to go in the 1st half. We cannot set screens, and when State figured out who to put on BP we quit scoring.

We tried to go to Withers more when they smothered Plav and started to make their run. Withers did well we he held onto the ball, but he gave it to State 7 times, and they weren’t from bad passes. He has to improve on receiving the ball, and he has to learn to kick it to the open man before the double team arrives. He is definitely our horse, but he needs hands instead of hooves.

Mitchell HAS to improve his shooting. Every team we play stays 5-7 foot off of him because they know he can’t hurt you from outside 7’. They use whoever is guarding him to double-down on any cut or post-feed we try to make, not fearing the kick out to him. He was lost yesterday when we needed him most. I don’t care if he had 0 turnovers (he actually had 3), he has to keep the defense honest. If Eddie can improve his shot that much in one year, Mitchell can too.

EJ played well. He was a little tentative at times, but starting when you’re not used to it does that to you sometimes. 11 points, 9 rebounds, 5-9, isn’t too shabby. I think he can help fill the Basden void nicely.

Iti. Well… Here’s hoping he can become more Bogut than Helliwell in the offseason. If not, he may not start.

I don’t know how many layups we missed, but they were plentiful. Our transition defense was atrocious. I never thought I would see a Herb Sendek team kill us on the break.

How many days until Midnight Madness? :pout:

1. We are what we are. Go Niners. 2. My opinion is that PI is a cancer. If every fan sounded like PI, we'd be Memphis.

Give it a rest Towelboy. There are posters on this board calling for Bobby’s head and you are getting on me for being disappointed? Get lost.

Has nothing to do with being disappointed about yesterdays game. You’ve been a douchebag all year. What’s your excuse for that?
