Back to Tall, I think this may be a done deal.
This will set off a reaction of raises IMO. The going rate for a DC in FBS is higher than FCS. Which means our DC will likely procure a contract large than our OC.

So why does WVU want a DC whoās players canāt tackle?
We are in a weird spot⦠Adolescence if you will. We are growing to FBS but are still just an FCS team and budget. There will need to be some significant pay increases caress the board in football⦠And everyone else in the AD better get used to football making a ton more that the rest of them
caress the board.
Lol⦠Acrossā¦
They night need to caress some donors to pay for it.
Judy roseās new donor drive, CARESS THE BOARD!
Judy is not a good fund raiser among the masses. She has her few high level donors but does a horrible job among the mid to lower level donors. These people will be your upper level donors someday. On Thursday, she never said hello or thank you when she walked right by our table. Spoke to the familiar faces and kept walking. That is a problem. On a side note I was VERY impressed with our football coaching staff and other members of the AD. They really went out if their way to be hospitable.
Should Tall leave, I hope that this opens up 1 of 2 things.
Aaron Curry gets a shot
we scrap the 3-4 and go with a 4-4. We are doing really well landing kids in the secondary and athletes, while having trouble landing huge DTs. This would make our defense similar to what Virginia Tech does.
If we scrap the 3-4 it will be to go to a 4-3 or a 4-2-5 not a 4-4. Canāt defend the spread in a 4-4
Iām gonna have to disagree and defend Judy on this one. She doesnāt know me other than just a face thatās been around a long time. Walking around before one of the football games this year she was in my vicinity so I just told her they did a great job on football. She stopped and talked to my daughter(7 yrs old) and me for about 10 minutes. After I explained who she was to my daughter-my daughter will never forget that. So I believe she is good with the little people that support our program. Iāve felt that way about her for years-this was just the latest example.

nothing in that story surprises me in the least.
it might not translate into making splendid decisions re MBB coaches, but judy is a genuinely good person and we should acknowledge that.

Judy is a very nice person and every interaction with her has been a positive one. Her track record on growing a donor base though is beyond poor.
Caress the programā¦thereās your slogan for 2014
May have been a bad moment for her but still stand by my statement that she is not growing the donor base. The football staff and many of the AD seem to get it.
Good luck Tall. Some would have achieved your success in Year 1 and 2 here. I cant agree that our defense played to their best ability or that the right person could not have pushed them closer to their best. His future is ok, just not here. Hell, Mullin needs to review his last half of the season. Some of those play calls leading to defeat were JV.
I received a phone call today from a good friend who is a WVU grad and avid fan. He wanted to let me know they were taking Tall away from us, and then he mentioned Mullen and asked how he was working out. Just for good measure I threw out the name Bob Huggins.
I know a lot of Wake fans who think we came out ahead of the game when we signed Mullen.
If we lose Coach Tall to WVU then congratulations to him. We will be fine. We were able to hire him when we had no team or stadium, were going to be FCS for the foreseeable future, had never put a butt in a seat, and were not on TV every week. Obviously things have changed and I bet there are plenty of coaches that are already polishing their resumes.
For sure. Lambert will probably give priority to someone he has a connection to, but there will be a ton of quality coordinators from the FCS level, as well as some FBS position coaches, looking for the opportunity to move up. Most college football coaches are always looking for opportunities to advance in their profession. Lambert will start to look eventually as well.
Lambert said last night on the radio show that he will be taking over Drew Daytonās spot as ILB coach to go along with his duties as Special Teams Coach, and Head Coach. I guess he could add Defensive Coordinator to the list if Tall leaves.

Iām confident that Lambert will find a capable replacement*
But āplenty of coachesā or āton of quality coordinatorsā looking to move at this time of year? Iām not so sure there will be a large number of a coaches looking to move right now.
Iām guessing that Aaron Curry, by start of Spring practice, takes the LB Coach title from Lambert. A comment was made by Lambert about Curry moving into office upstairs somewhere.
*-assuming management lets him fill open positions. Otherwise, HC/LB Coach/Special Teams Coach/Defensive Coordinator does come into play.
