Cameron Tatum - 2006

I really feel this kid was playing us all along. I read an old article on him today where he said he loves Lutz and blah, blah, blah. This was back in Feb. Not once mentioned Hill as his reason to come here. He was holding out for a better offer the whole time. Oh well. I’m over it.

way to go Allie!!! Live and let go!

Yeah he played us like a cheap fiddle.

Now at #63 in the Rivals150. Ouch.

“I’ll probably end up at Tennessee if I qualify,” said Tatum. “I liked it there a lot. It’s a good situation and they have a good thing going. It’s a place that can get me focused academically and get me where I want to be on the court. They have a great coaching staff and Coach Pearl is great.”
I hope you flunk out of prep school #@#hole.

Such venom. Don’t you guys realize that most of these guys don’t pan out? Recruit Charlotte and the surrounding areas and we’ll be fine.

i think everyone on this board knew we had stole one with him, a diamond in the rough. We were all excited about him, he even posted on our ninerreport diaries. Some of us probably even prayed for him on the SAT’s. all he did was screw us over.

Like I said, he was always looking around for a better offer. I actually hope we don’t re-recruit him after prep school. We don’t want a guy who doesn’t want to be a Niner.

What hootie said. Water under the bridge. He owes us nothing. Nothing.

I’m confused, why all the anger toward Tatum?? We used our last scholly on Booker so if Tatum did qualify he would be shit out of luck at Charlotte anyway.

If he goes to prep school we are still in the mix, let’s not bury the kid before he actually screw us over and signs with someone else.

Oh and for anyone who actually wants him to come here you might want to keep in mind he actually visits this site and reads what is written…

Jimmyhat, he decommitted. Doesn’t that mean no longer interested?

Words of wisdom. For some reason, they just dont seem to penetrate some of our users.

There’s another way to look at this too - we went another direction when we signed Booker, which happened BEFORE Tatum “decommitted” (no more scholarships after Booker). Tatum sounds like a guy who wants to play next season, unfortunately, I haven’t yet read where his grades are gonna allow that, no matter how interested he may be in TN or vice versa. But we’ll definitely have room for him next year after he gets his grades sorted out in prep school, which makes the nasty comments directed at him very embarassing and counterproductive. But I’m tired of explaining that. Just don’t whine about recruiting if you help run kids off with comments like this.

Not necessarily… He wants to look at all his options and see how things shake out. We don’t know what has been said between him and the coaching staff. Until I hear we are not recruiting him any longer, I will hold out hope that he will be a Niner. And if he goes somewhere else that is his right, he never signed o play with us, we have no reason to be pissed at him.

yea, I’m pretty sure we have 1 scholorship remaining. We had 2 before booker, so now its down to one. Lutz said we might or might not use it.

This kind of game from guys we try to recruit reminded me of Jason Parker. Where’s he now?

I think Coaches were expecting Jerrell Lewis to transfer. He decided not too, so Coaches didn’t have the scholly. Hopefully Tatum goes prep and still wants to come here.

No…13 schollys for basketball total, 13 players on scholarship= No remaining scholarships

I’m glad J Lew isn’t transferring… I think he will improve and see minutes, besides some of his stupid mistakes, he did show some flashes where of being a good PG ( I just think he was trying too much while he was in). If I’m not mistaken, doesn’t he workout extra with Leemire also after practice. Hard work pays off in the end and everyone knows that.

Hey guys, Vol fan here. I came over here to see what you guys were saying about Tatum. We are excited about the possibility of landing him, but the local sports gurus seem to think there is no way he will qualify. Usually, they are right on these matters, but we’ll see. There is also the fact that we have no schollies left to give, which brings up some speculation among us Vols:

 1. Anthony Passley, who was charged with possession of marijuana and crack cocaine (it was in his friend’s car, which they were sitting in at the time), may get dismissed from the team. His court date is in May. If the crack charge remains, he will probably be gone. If the crack charge is dropped, he will probably be suspended for a few games next season.

 2. One of the other UT players may transfer, likely one of the bench players who will not see many minutes.

 3. Pearl is planning to use Tatum’s scholly for the '07 class.

Regardless of what is true, we really want him at Tennessee. I can’t remember anything negative written about his play, and he is the perfect type of player for Pearl’s system (athletic, thrives on pressure defense, can shoot the 3 ball). His jump in the Rivals rankings shows that he was underrated indeed. Although we would like him to come to Tennessee, good luck just the same.

By the way, fee free to drop by Hoopsville (http://mb27.scout.com/fgridscapefrm2) if you want to discuss basketball with some of us Vol fans. I noticed someone mentioned that all we talk about is football, and there was no mention of Tatum on our forums. That’s because no one really discusses hoops at the Rivals site (unless you have access to the pay forums), but Hoopsville (Scout) is THE place for Tennessee hoops discussion. It is thriving, the more so since Bruce Pearl arrived. Many Vol fans are more excited about the next basketball season more than the '06 football season, and Cameron Tatum has also been a hot topic of discussion for the past few days. Anyway, feel free to visit Hoopsville anytime and talk b-ball!

Ninja out.
